Our client which is a restaurant is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Head Chef with expertise in East Asian cuisine to lead thekitchen team and bring authentic flavors to the restaurant. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of East Asian culinary traditions, including but not limited to Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai cuisine, and be passionate about delivering high-quality dishes with a creative flair. You will oversee kitchen operations, menu creation, and food preparation while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Development & Execution:
  • Design and execute a diverse and authentic East Asian menu that reflects traditional techniques and contemporary trends.
  • Innovate and introduce seasonal dishes, incorporating fresh, high-quality ingredients.
  • Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality of all dishes.
  • Lead and manage kitchen staff, including sous chefs, line cooks, and kitchen assistants, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
  • Assign responsibilities to the team and ensure the smooth operation of all kitchen stations.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, food safety, and presentation.
  • Oversee food preparation, ensuring that it meets the restaurant's quality and portion standards.
  • Inventory & Cost Control:
  • Monitor and control food costs by managing inventory, sourcing suppliers, and reducing waste.
  • Ensure proper storage of ingredients and strict adherence to food safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with management to maintain budgetary guidelines and achieve profitability.
  • Health & Safety Compliance:
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment in compliance with health department regulations.
  • Implement and uphold sanitation standards, including regular kitchen cleaning schedules.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of all ingredients to meet food hygiene standards.
  • Customer Experience:
  • Engage with customers when necessary to ensure satisfaction and gather feedback on menu items.
  • Work closely with the front-of-house team to deliver an exceptional dining experience.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a fine dining or high-volume restaurant specializing in East Asian cuisine.
  • In-depth knowledge of East Asian cooking techniques, ingredients, and regional specialties (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, etc.).
  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse kitchen team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, health standards, and sanitation practices.
  • Creativity and passion for delivering authentic, high-quality dishes with a modern twist.
