Job Description

Job Summary

The Business Development role will support the growth and expansion of the Business Center by identifying new opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and assisting in the execution of business initiatives. This includes market research, stakeholder engagement, proposal development, and project coordination to drive revenue and promote the university's research, consultancy, and training services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to business development.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and funding sources to support the Center’s strategic objectives.
  2. Support the development and implementation of business strategies aligned with the Center’s goals.
  3. Conduct market research on industry trends, competitors, and potential clients to inform strategic planning.
  4. Assist in preparing business proposals, research/consultancy proposals, and partnership agreements.
  5. Coordinate and track proposal submissions, ensuring timely delivery and compliance.
  6. Gather and synthesize input from internal departments to support proposal development and business cases.
  7. Prepare strategic reports, performance analytics, and financial summaries for internal and leadership review.
  8. Support revenue tracking, budget monitoring, and financial performance analysis related to business development.
  9. Build and maintain relationships with potential clients, sponsors, government entities, and academic partners.
  10. Respond to client inquiries and follow up to nurture and convert business leads.
  11. Plan and organize meetings, networking events, and presentations to foster engagement.
  12. Assist in planning and executing business development events, training sessions, and conferences.
  13. Handle event logistics, participant registration, and on-site engagement.
  14. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless outreach and business development activities.
  15. Assist in developing marketing materials such as brochures, presentations, and digital content.
  16. Coordinate promotional campaigns and track engagement to measure outreach effectiveness.
  17. Maintain and update the Business Center’s website and manage social media presence.
  18. Analyze marketing and outreach metrics to assess campaign effectiveness and suggest improvements.
  19. Maintain a central repository of business development materials, templates, case studies, and records.
  20. Monitor project performance and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  21. Perform all other duties professionally, effectively, and confidentially.
  22. Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Information Technology, or an equivalent from an accredited institution.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in project management or business development, preferably within an academic or university environment or related fields.
