We are currently seeking a Senior Design Manager to enhance the Sports Development teams. In this role, you will oversee the design process for various venue projects, ensuring they reflect our commitment to quality, sustainability, and creativity. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the design and development of sports, entertainment, or multipurpose venues.
As a key team member on the Qiddiya Sports BU development team, the Senior Design Manager is considered a key person in providing design and technical support to effectively deliver high-quality sports-related vertical projects.
In conjunction with the Head of Development's objectives and working closely with the Senior Director (SD) Planning & Design, the role requires managing design development to drive efficient and productive direction from concept through to successful project handover.
The Senior Design Manager will work closely with internal and external team members to meet or exceed project goals in terms of time, cost, and quality, aligning with the overall Qiddiya development strategy.
Requirements
- Support the SD in leading and managing the design process for venue projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and standards.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to create innovative design solutions.
- Be familiar with Qiddiya design standards and maintain awareness of vision goals.
- Support the Sports and Venue development team.
- Work with the development team to shape design processes and delivery methods.
- Establish design briefs, RFPs, area programs, scopes of work, and deliverables.
- Research and analyze regional and global market products, seeking suitable design consultants.
- Oversee all aspects of project design, including architecture, interior design, landscape, signage, F, F&E / OS&E, and coordination with MEP and other specialists.
- Manage the design process with external consultants from concept to construction documentation.
- Ensure the level of detailing meets high-quality standards.
- Develop strong collaborative relationships within internal departments to manage interfaces effectively.
- Manage design consultants to produce timely information.
- Attend briefing meetings to progress design.
- Support sustainability initiatives.
- Oversee and review design quality and health & safety considerations.
- Review drawings and project particulars.
- Control drawing management and distribution.
- Manage design sign-off processes.
- Handle design changes and notifications with the Project Manager.
- Coordinate with project managers to understand project timelines, budgets, and quality issues.
- Facilitate smooth transition from design to construction and operations, including understanding drawing/content requirements, navigating approval processes, and managing contractor performance.
- Review shop drawings and material submittals for conformity and quality.
- Provide regular progress reports to the Project Executive.
- Assist in producing as-built drawings and O+M manuals.
Job specifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 9-12 years of relevant experience in design management, especially in sports, mixed-use, or commercial projects.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating innovative design solutions and successful outcomes.
- Proficient in reading drawings and specifications.
- Excellent English skills; Arabic is desirable.
- Strong communication skills, capable of delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in design software such as BIM 360, AutoCAD, PowerPoint, Excel, and related tools.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and sustainability practices.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet challenging goals.
- Leadership skills to motivate teams and produce results.
