Job description

The Project Manager for the ISBL/OSBL for the General Works Contract is responsible for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of the project. This includes overseeing Engineering deliverables and that such are provided to Contractor in line with the Annex G commitments, ensuring RFIs and letters are responded to promptly, attend meetings with Contractor and other meetings related to the Works, work with the Procurement team to ensure processes and timely delivery of Consultant Supplied Materials, work with the Construction team to manage the construction work scope while ensuring that all project objectives are met on time, within scope, and within budget.

The Project Manager must thus have a very good working knowledge of the Scope of work of the General Contractor and the terms and conditions of the GC Contract.

Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Management:

  • Oversee the development, maintenance and update of the General Contractor project schedule, milestones, and work breakdown structure.
  • Ensure compliance of the General Contractor with approved schedule and milestones dates are met.
  • Manage Contractor invoice ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, quantities and rates and ensuring the invoices are reviewed by the appropriate team before approval.
  • Proactively manage the Management of Change process in line with the Program requirement. Interface with all required teams in ensuring a prompt identification and management of project changes.
  • Provide oversight on the monthly update of EPCM Master Schedule incorporating the status of Engineering, Procurement and Construction and General Contractor s Schedule.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment with contractual obligations and technical requirements.
  • Present the EPCM Master Schedule to Program Management and to Sponsors monthly.
  • Be the liaison between Engineering and other department Procurement, Construction, for the successful completion of the General Contractor s work.
  • Interface with the Field Engineering Services Manager to ensure prompt resolution of issues as may arise on the field.
  • Interface with the Engineering Office in Casablanca for the timely release of required and relevant drawings and other information to support the work activities of the General Contractor

3. Stakeholder Management, Interface, and Communication:

  • Act as the primary point of contact between the contractors, suppliers, and internal teams (Engineering, Procurement, Quality etc.).
  • Manage and ensure response to Requests for Information (RFIs) are done in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Working with the appropriate team, draft, review, and issue contractual and official correspondence, including letters, meeting minutes, and progress reports.
  • Coordinate with Interface Team to develop, maintain and regularly update Interface register for General Contractor and update on the Global Interface Register
  • Coordinate with the Interface and Stakeholders Management Team to address the Management of Change Process for existing plant connections and coordination of requirements for existing plant shutdown and tie-ins.

4. Procurement and Contracts Management:

  • Work with the Procurement Team and the Contract Team to manage the issuance and management of purchase orders, Contracts, and supplier agreements.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams for expediting and to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Attend critical Procurement meetings.
  • Address and resolve any contractual or procurement issues.
  • Escalate unresolvable or protracted issues to the Project Director
  • Escalate through letters and via the Program Directorate, Contractual issues that has potential for impacting the project.

5. Construction Oversight:

  • In alliance with the Construction Manager and Area Construction Managers, monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to project specifications, safety standards, and timelines.
  • Organize necessary and required Constructability sessions with General Contractor in conjunction with the Site Construction directorate.
  • Report to the Project Director- RAK on Construction Progress.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to address technical challenges.
