Role Purpose
Develop, deploy and maintain telecoms networks and projects in the ENOWA Grid including the design of telecoms system and development of functional specifications. Provide telecoms solutions to the protection, control and real-time systems etc., including supporting the internal and external stakeholders to develop, establish and maintain communication links between IEDs, RTUs, telecoms equipment and system servers.
ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
Design And Commissioning
- Lead in planning, development and implementation of telecoms network for DSO assets in the ENOWA Grid.
- Lead the potential IT/OT integration including technologies such as ADMS/DERMS and/or EMS.
- Provide guidance and assist in establishing communication links and telecoms interface between IEDs, RTUs, telecoms equipment and SCADA systems.
- Design and implement telecoms system for distribution system operation.
- Undertake and assist the installation, reception, and configuration of telecoms equipment and RTUs.
- Design telecoms network and systems, and integration of various telecoms technologies.
- Review telecoms systems architecture, material submittals and drawings.
- Review and comment on schedules and drawings related to telecoms system.
- Review and check the telecoms system design requirement and programming/configuration.
- Review and comment on telecommunication systems architecture, design proposal and drawings.
- Work with ENOWA Cyber Security teams to enhance the security of the telecoms systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment and software to repair and diagnose any malfunctions in telecoms system.
- Attend Factory Acceptance Testing and ensure compliance to project requirements.
Project Management
- Act as PM and/or multi-discipline team member to support ENOWA’s projects.
- Coordinate with consultants in preparation of method statements.
- Monitor industry standards and technological advances.
- Identify and progress suggestions and opportunities for process improvements.
- Manage the preparation of effective monthly reports.
Standards and Guidance
- Assist in integration procedures for telecoms related systems.
- Provide guidance to all internal stakeholders on best practice for telecoms system implementation.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 5+ years Engineering degree in Telecoms Engineering (preferred); or Electrical and Electronics or equivalent Communications Engineering.
- Hands-on experience in the design of telecoms and real-time systems.
- Good power system knowledge and application of telecoms related standards.
- Working knowledge of IEC-61850 and communication protocols.
- Experience in implementation of communication technologies.
- Experienced in design of telecommunication network for electricity utilities.
- Working knowledge of protection and control schemes over telecommunication systems.
- At least 3 years experience in utility industry for telecoms design.
- Fully IT literate with an ability to embrace new systems.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven track record of delivering outcomes.
- Experience in financial evaluation and risk management.
- Strong presentation skills and MS Office proficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant engineering discipline.
