Job description

Role:

Develops and implements hazard control designs, methods, procedures, and safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, ensuring the protection of people, property, and the environment. Utilizes knowledge in industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and industrial health and safety laws.

Accountabilities:
  1. Examines plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to determine all safety precautions required as per company policy.
  2. Monitors plant and employee accommodation facilities to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  3. Conducts or coordinates safety and first aid training to educate workers about safety policies, laws, and practices.
  4. Implements, administers, and advises others on hazard control programs; determines requirements for safety clothing and devices; builds and installs or directs the installation of safety devices on machinery.
  5. Investigates industrial accidents to minimize recurrence and prepares accident reports.
  6. Forecasts future safety plans and statements based on real-time experiences and facts to minimize incidents.
  7. Conducts air quality tests for the presence of harmful gases and vapors as per law.

Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • At least 2 years of experience
  • Must have worked in the manufacturing industry for at least 1 year
  • Fluent in English
  • Certificates like OSHA or NEBOSH are preferable
