MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Ensure that projects are supported with Construction Department guidelines and that the construction process complies with Company policies and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day construction management of the project.
- Prepare, supervise, and approve the development of the Project Execution Plan (PEP).
- Manage the construction effort and serve as the construction representative of the company with the client. Plan, develop, and organize the construction effort to formulate the most cost-effective plan for timely completion within budget, and oversee the execution of that plan.
- Responsible for implementing the scope of work related to construction/fabrication, pre-commissioning, load-out, offshore installation hook-up, and offshore pre-commissioning and commissioning of the facilities, in conformance with project specifications, Scope of Work, and the approved Project Schedule.
- Monitor and report project details, including progress, risks, and opportunities, to the Project Manager / Sr. Construction Manager in a timely manner.
- Ensure all changes to specifications, work scope, and drawings are documented.
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and deliverable requirements in terms of scope and schedule for all team members.
- Review man-hours and duration forecasts for onshore construction and man-hours, duration, and resource requirements for offshore hook-up and installation durations.
- Monitor construction productivity and schedule performance; investigate reasons for less-than-satisfactory performance and recommend improvements by modifying operating procedures or work instructions.
- Adopt and implement all company processes and procedures involved in construction.
- Perform any other ad-hoc projects and duties as required by management.
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
- Report and escalate issues to management as needed.
- Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Address issues that may cause delays, such as weather conditions or emergencies, to ensure project completion.
- Ensure resource availability and source materials, equipment, and manpower for construction activities.
REQUIRED FUNCTIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering in a relevant discipline.
- Knowledge of NDE, welding technology, and code systems.
- Data analysis skills.
- Report writing and business/technical correspondence skills.
- Over 12 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in power plants, substations, or synchronous condensers is essential.
