Core Responsibilities:

Position Summary

The E-commerce Commercial Analyst is responsible for analyzing e-commerce sales, category performance, customer behavior, and web analytics, providing actionable insights to support trading, merchandising, and leadership teams. The role plays a critical part in identifying performance trends and areas for optimization, ensuring data-driven decision-making that maximizes growth.

1. Customer Behavior & Seasonal Sales Insights

  • Analyze customer purchase patterns and preferences, tracking how demand shifts across different periods.
  • Evaluate seasonal performance, identifying top-performing categories and products.
  • Provide insights on category-specific buying trends, helping align stock, promotions, and marketing efforts.

2. Category & Sales Performance Analysis

  • Break down overall website performance per category, tracking conversion rates, basket sizes/mix, and revenue.
  • Identify top sellers, fast movers, and slow movers to guide trading and stock decisions.
  • Conduct price band analysis, assessing how different price points impact demand and sales velocity.
  • Compare e-commerce vs. retail store performance, offering insights into online category dynamics.
  • Highlight assortment opportunities by analyzing sell-through rates and demand fluctuations.

3. Pricing & Promotional Impact Analysis

  • Track the impact of pricing, discounts, and promotions on e-commerce sales.
  • Assess demand elasticity, analyzing how pricing adjustments influence buying behavior.
  • Monitor price positioning vs. competitors and retail stores, identifying key trends and opportunities.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to optimize promotional planning and pricing strategies.

4. Web Analytics & Customer Engagement

  • Analyze website traffic, user engagement, and checkout behavior to improve conversion rates.
  • Track key performance metrics such as bounce rates, cart abandonment, and sessions.
  • Work with merchandising teams to enhance product placement & discovery.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns by correlating traffic & sales performance.

5. Reporting & Business Intelligence

  • Develop and maintain automated dashboards and reports to track key e-commerce KPIs.
  • Provide a comprehensive breakdown of website performance by category, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Present data-driven insights to trading, merchandising, and leadership teams.
  • Proactively highlight stock, pricing, and promotional trends to support decision-making.
