The Role

As the Director of Engineering, you will oversee the maintenance, operation, and overall efficiency of all engineering systems and infrastructure within the hotel. This role is based in a remote location and requires a leader who can thrive in a dynamic, off-the-grid setting. Leading a team of skilled engineers, you will ensure that all facilities operate safely, reliably, and in accordance with the highest standards. This critical leadership role focuses on preserving the property’s assets, driving sustainability initiatives, optimizing operational efficiencies, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for both guests and team members.

Collaborate with RSGH’s senior leadership and key departments to ensure a seamless opening that meets brand standards, stays within budget, and aligns with project timelines. Develop and implement a comprehensive pre-opening framework, including SOP development, staff onboarding, and procurement of essential resources and equipment.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and mentor the engineering team members, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to operational standards.
  • Maintenance Operations: Oversee all aspects of maintenance operations, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and improvements to facilities, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Energy Efficiency & Sustainability: Develop and implement strategies to optimize energy use, reduce waste, and implement sustainable practices across the hotel, contributing to both cost savings and environmental stewardship.
  • Budget & Cost Management: Manage the engineering department’s budget, controlling costs and overseeing expenditures related to maintenance, repairs, and projects.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all engineering operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Oversee safe working practices to guarantee the well-being of team members and guests.
  • Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with other departments such as Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Front Office to ensure seamless operations and a superior guest experience.
  • Project Management: Oversee engineering-related projects, including system upgrades, refurbishments, and new installations. Ensure these projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Guest Experience Enhancement: Ensure that the hotel’s physical infrastructure contributes to an exceptional guest experience by maintaining a comfortable and well-maintained environment.
  • Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and development for engineering team members, ensuring skills are up to date and fostering career growth opportunities within the team.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular reports on maintenance activities, energy consumption, and departmental performance for senior management.
