CD&A Practice
Our Infrastructure and Capital Projects Advisory team helps organisations resolve complex issues across capital-intensive sectors, with a focus on infrastructure and capital projects. We are at the heart of our client’s most important issues, bringing the knowledge and insight they need to be successful, right across the project life cycle. Working across a range of infrastructure and construction sectors, our talented team combines deep industry experience with practical know-how, bringing bright ideas and the right expertise to our clients. The team is part of our wider Global Construction practice, which consists of over 200 highly experienced capital projects specialists, located all over the world.
Role
This role is in the Construction Advisory team where we primarily work on non-contentious matters and is not expected to have disputes/litigation background, but some support and work with the Disputes team might occur from time to time.
Responsibilities
We’re looking for bright and ambitious individuals. We’re a small team that is growing quickly and you’ll play an integral part of that growth. You’ll work as part of a team, delivering client engagements with considerable contact with our clients. As a Director, your role will include:
Developing strategies to help clients deliver their projects successfully and transform performance.
Helping clients understand how their projects are performing and helping them develop recovery strategies and/or intervene when things go wrong.
Working alongside our clients, providing them with strategic advice and insightacross their projects or programs.
Participating in the development of our business and supporting in the preparation of bids and proposals, thought leadership, conferences or other published material.
Supporting the operational management and development of our team.
Be involved in dispute avoidance projects, litigation support and expert witness support, through preparing various analyses using industry-standard techniques and processes.
An individual is required who can perform advanced data research, management, and analysis specific to the infrastructure/construction sector.
This role will involve frequent client interactions and may require the successful candidate to prepare and makes presentations to communicate results, reports or other written material.
Requirements
Background gained in management consulting, ideally Big 4 experience.
Background in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Quantity Surveying related degree.
Professional chartered membership e.g., RICS, ICE, PMP, MAPM or other.
Programme Management experience supporting large construction infrastructure projects in the GCC region, and ideally Saudi Arabia.
Due to the nature of our client work it is essential you are fluent in English and Arabic.
Broad experience across a range of large infrastructure/construction projects by sector (oil & gas, infrastructure, transportation, buildings, public works, etc).
Demonstrable Planning or Project Management experience skills including compiling and/or reviewing programs, or project controls platforms.
Have experience in one or more of the following areas: project/program business case and feasibility, procurement, project setup, contracts and commercial management, project controls, project monitoring and reporting, governance, assurance, turnaround anddispute avoidance.
Have a good understanding of project controls (design and implementation) and other project management systems.
Experience of project managing small teams, and be comfortable delegating and actively supporting the development of junior members of the team.
The candidate is not expected to be generating business development leads yet, but must be comfortable with actively networking and supporting senior team members in business development activity where called upon to do so.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build relationships, whilst actively and positively promoting Ankura and the services we provide.
Good team working skills and the ability to work efficiently and effectively with a high degree of accuracy under pressure, both within a team or as an individual.
Be highly motivated, self-starting, curious and have a hunger to learn and develop yourself.
Be agile and flexible, comfortable with ambiguity and be able to apply yourself to new situations.
Be self-aware, enjoy working in a team environment and collaborating with others.
Have solid analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills, and be proficient in data analysis techniques and technology (e.g., Excel, PowerBI).
Be comfortable working with other Ankura teams as part of a blended service offering to our clients, including but not limited to: Forensics, Turnaround & Restructuring, Risk Advisory and any others that may require subject matter expertise.
Be flexible to travel, both nationally and internationally, including overnight stay, potentially at short notice and/or for prolonged periods during the working week.
