Job description

Our client an European multinational Engineering & Construction consultancy (PMC) working on projects across Saudi Arabiais looking to hire a Design manager, based in Riyadh, KSA.

Reporting : Project Director

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:

• Review and coordination of all engineering design submittals presented by different Third Party entities, as well as following up site supervision, design conflicts and change requests.
• Review technical submissions and design layouts as well as material submittals.
• Attend technical meetings, discuss and suggest technical proposals.
• Take part in project and risk management reviews.
• Coordinate with engineering teams ensuring that all requirements are conveyed clearly and delivered upon.
• Supervise the review and approvals of shop drawings, material submittals with respect to the project specification and standards of practice submitted by contractors.
• Review the Contractors' list of deliverables (submittal of drawings, design and materials) as well as ensure the compliance with the contract and project requirements.
• Liaise with the project director on the performance measures related to the technical part.
• Review sub-contractor(s) proposed by Contractors associated with the various engineering packages.
• Support review of subcontractors' invoices, when required for technical assistance.
• Documenting project issues/conditions.
• Maintaining organized and detailed project records.

Person Specification – Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications / Personal Attributes:

• The ideal candidate should hold a degree in architectural or engineering field from an internationally recognized university and over 15 years overall experience preferably in the specific field gained on similar projects.
• Work experience, including supervision, preferably in project and design engineering, systems start-up, field engineering and utilities. Proficient knowledge of procurement, construction, contracts and quality assurance.
• Technical knowledge of engineering systems, calculations, applications of engineering methods and materials and applications of computers and computer aided engineering to problems. Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards, engineering procedures and design criteria in all engineering disciplines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in working in Saudi Arabia is a big plus.
