An established industry player is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to the design and engineering of high-voltage substations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Electrical & Instrumentation Design, with at least 5 years of experience in the utility or Oil & Gas sectors. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality designs while adhering to client requirements and international standards. -Technical activities related to Electrical Design and Engineering of HV/MV/LV Power Control Room (PCR), Substations, and E-Houses using various software tools.
-Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and cost-effective designs/products in a timely manner, adhering to client requirements, standards, and specifications.
-Perform electrical and instrumentation design calculations for HV/MV/LV substations, including lighting, grounding, shielding, battery and charger sizing, transformer sizing, and preparing relevant drawings and documents such as electrical layouts, equipment arrangements, and cable routing.
-Interface with systems such as PSA, DCS, fire alarm, communication, data, and telephone systems for design review and validation. Prepare Bills of Material, technical documents, and drawings. Evaluate and select materials and components like lighting fixtures, panel boards, cables, busbars, surge arrestors, etc.
-Conduct technical evaluations of quotations for electrical equipment and materials, place purchase orders, and support sales teams with technical data and cost sheets.
Work Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in Electrical & Instrumentation Design/Engineering of HV/MV/LV substations within the utility or Oil & Gas industries (e.g., National Grid, Saudi Electricity Company, Saudi Aramco, Sabic, Royal Commission, etc.), using software such as Dilux, ETAP, Multigrid, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
Expertise in Electrical Design/Engineering of substations, proficiency in design software and AutoCAD/MicroStation, strong command of English, and knowledge of equipment/system requirements (HVAC, fire alarm, firefighting, etc.). Familiarity with international standards (ANSI, IEC, ASTM, NEMA, DIN, NFPA, SASO) and ISO/QMS/EMS documentation.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Communications, or Mechatronics Engineering.
