Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Design and Specification Engineer to join our Engineering team in Riyadh, contributing to the development and delivery of High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) underground power cables (typically 66kV to 400kV). The role focuses on the design, technical specification, and customization of cable products, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and international standards. The successful candidate will work closely with sales, production, R&D, and quality departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review technical specifications for EHV & HV underground cables, including system design and accessory selection (such as outdoor terminations, cable joints, and surge voltage limiters (SVLs)).

• Develop single-line diagrams for high-voltage cable systems in accordance with both and international standards.

• Utilize CYMCAP software to perform cable system analysis including ampacity, induced voltage, and short-circuit rating evaluations.

• Generate dimensional drawings and typical cable cross-sections for customer approval and production reference.

• Provide technical support for tender submissions to major utility authorities in the Gulf and Middle East, including:

  • SEC (Saudi Electricity Company)

  • DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority)

  • FEWA (Federal Electricity and Water Authority)

  • ADWEA (Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority)

  • KAHRAMAA (Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation)

  • Bahrain Electricity & Water Authority

• Ensure all designs meet applicable international standards (e.g., IEC 60840, IEC 62067) and client-specific requirements.

• Coordinate with manufacturing and quality departments to ensure design feasibility and production capability.

• Support type testing and product qualification, in collaboration with external test houses and certification bodies.

• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of HV/EHV cable technologies, materials, and installation practices.

• Leverage experience in HV/EHV cable installation (up to 400 kV) to provide practical design input and support field operations when needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in HV/EHV cable design and specification, with solid knowledge of accessories and system performance.

• Proven experience with cable installation techniques for voltages up to 400 kV.

• Proficient in CYMCAP and other relevant electrical modeling/design tools.

• Strong understanding of international cable standards (IEC, IEEE, etc.) and GCC authority requirements (e.g., SEC, DEWA).

• Proficiency in preparing technical documentation, diagrams, and drawings (AutoCAD or similar tools).

• Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Attributes:

• Knowledge of material selection, thermal modeling, and mechanical design considerations in HV cables.
