Job description

Leverage your abilities and join the dynamic team of a Saudi Governmental entity.

They are looking for an experienced Design and Safety Expert to provide technical expertise in design safety for nuclear installations.

The Design and Safety Expert’s role involves reviewing safety documentation, supporting licensing processes, and delivering on-the-job training and mentoring to relevant staff in their area of expertise.

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Key Accountabilities
  1. Provide technical expertise in design safety objectives, particularly during early interactions with the applicant to establish applicable standards.
  2. Support design safety and assessment during the review and evaluation of relevant chapters in the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR).
  3. Provide technical expertise in the area of nuclear safety capacity development, in particular design safety.
  4. Develop training programs and materials to support on-the-job training of staff, especially in the review and assessment of the PSAR and the development of safety evaluation reports.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

We are looking for:

  1. Advanced university degree in science, technology, engineering, math, or a related field to design safety.
  2. 10+ years of experience in nuclear science/engineering within a nuclear safety context and experience in developing and implementing regulatory frameworks and processes for nuclear installations with particular aspects of the design safety of nuclear power plants (NPPs).
  3. Good knowledge of the Nuclear Safety framework and infrastructure required to support the development of a Nuclear Power programme including experience of the licensing process and regulatory oversight.
  4. Experience in the review and assessment of the NPP safety analysis report.
  5. Experience of working with and supporting countries embarking on a nuclear power program using the relevant IAEA safety standards.
  6. Practical experience in the development and implementation of nuclear safety and regulatory framework technical documents, including IAEA safety standards.
  7. Experience in successfully implementing complex technical/scientific projects.
  8. Fluency in English (written and spoken).
