Job description

Location: Dhahran, Saudi Arabia

Job Purpose

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements to provide equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia. We maintain Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel in a safe training environment on aircraft, equipment, and weapons.


BAE Systems Saudi Arabia supports the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and the development of Saudi National capability through local partner companies, fostering industrialisation and partnerships.


The Engineering Manager acts as the key interface between the Supply Chain organisation and TSS Operational teams, translating operational requirements into effective supply chain actions. This involves regular interaction with Maintenance & UK/KSA Technical Services Teams and supporting complex Quality or Product Safety activities.


Job Accountabilities
  1. Provide technical direction to analyze, select, and review optimal solutions for supply chain issues.
  2. Assist in resolving engineering queries from the customer, providing solutions and recommendations.
  3. Manage repairs through a triage process in JLF to ensure cost-effective solutions.
  4. Liaise with procurement and technical teams on obsolescence activities.
  5. Help resolve discrepancies for ROIDS and MDRs.
  6. Understand the roles of BAESAI, RSAF, and SPO.
  7. Manage complex issues effectively.
  8. Influence change positively beyond direct hierarchy, maintaining professional integrity.
  9. Lead safety behaviors and support a culture of continuous improvement.
  10. Build trust with all team members and stakeholders, including RSAF, MODSAP, RAF, and TSS personnel.
  11. Contribute to achieving business goals and managing risks and opportunities.
  12. Manage performance, conduct, development, and rewards of team members.
  13. Oversee administrative functions like PDR, TDY, Leave, and Attendance.
  14. Ensure delivery of SHE, Operational Framework, and Conduct training.
  15. Drive high performance via Total Performance Leadership.
  16. Create an inclusive, motivating work environment.
  17. Manage budgets and resources efficiently.
  18. Support Saudisation targets through effective management actions.
  19. Develop succession plans with stakeholders.
  20. Perform other managerial responsibilities as appropriate.
  21. Implement SHE policies, standards, and monitor performance.
  22. Develop and execute SHE plans.
  23. Define resource needs and ensure team members complete mandated SHE training.
  24. Regularly review SHE performance and standards.
Recruitment Specification
Essential
  • HND Level 5 or equivalent in Aircraft Engineering or relevant military aircraft experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of modern combat aircraft systems and maintenance experience.
  • Understanding of Airworthiness Management & Governance Principles.
  • Knowledge of RSAF Supply Chain and support procedures, preferably with RSAF experience.
  • Familiarity with logistics organizations in the UK and Saudi Arabia.
  • Understanding of quality processes in KSA.
  • Leadership experience in Aerospace Supply and Logistics.
  • Proven team management skills.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain accounting principles and systems like IFS APP 7 and IMS.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to meet deadlines without compromising standards.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Supply Chain functions.
