Job Title: Experienced Database Manager Oil & Gas Drilling Operations (Onshore)

Contract: 6-Month Contract (Potential to Extend)

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Database Manager to support onshore drilling operations within the oil and gas sector. This role is essential in maintaining the accuracy, security, and performance of drilling and subsurface data across multiple active projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in upstream data management and be confident working in a fast-paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and optimize drilling and geological databases for active onshore projects
  2. Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility across departments
  3. Support real-time data acquisition and reporting systems
  4. Collaborate closely with drilling engineers, subsurface teams, and IT
  5. Enforce data governance, backup, and recovery procedures
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve database and integration issues promptly

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience managing databases in oil & gas drilling operations (onshore preferred)
  2. Strong working knowledge of industry data platforms (e.g., OpenWorks, Petrel, WellView, EDM)
  3. Advanced SQL skills and experience with data integration and visualization tools
  4. Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder coordination skills
  5. Ability to work independently and under pressure in an operational environment

Preferred Certifications & Skills:

  1. PPDM (Professional Petroleum Data Management)
  2. WITSML (Wellsite Information Transfer Standard Markup Language)
  3. Data management experience with Landmark, Peloton, or similar systems
  4. Understanding of regulatory data requirements and compliance standards

6-month initial term, with potential for extension based on performance and project needs
