Data Services & Storage Presales role. This position is designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation to work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office. Based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to join the Middle East & Africa Presales Team.

Job Description
Job Family Definition: Responsible for architecting solutions that will achieve customer business outcomes within a specific technical domain or across the broader company portfolio (hardware, software, services, and as-a-service offerings) with third-party components. Develops and articulates compelling, accurate proposals and ensures customer requirements are met. Provides technical expertise to sales teams and customers through presentations, product/solution demonstrations, etc. Roles focus on technical selling and may be aligned to specific accounts based on priority.
Management Level Definition: Applies subject matter expertise to solve technical problems, may act as project lead, and uses independent judgment to determine best methods for accomplishing work and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Applies advanced knowledge of the company’s portfolio, articulating proposals, and ensuring customer needs are met.
- Identifies key risks and outlines value points for the account team.
- Provides input to address customer IT trends, requirements, and gaps.
- Translates functional designs into scalable technical designs and architectures.
- Communicates how the solution value proposition addresses customer needs.
- Tracks industry trends and competitor activities and leverages this knowledge with the customer’s environment.
- Demonstrates how to migrate and integrate technologies in new or existing environments.
- Contributes to industry developments through content support, presentations, demos, booths, and social media.
- Designs and delivers solutions aligned to customer requirements, leveraging industry knowledge and the customer’s technical environment.
- Participates in deep-dive discussions, articulates value propositions, differentiators, and high-level designs.
- Delivers optimal results balancing costs, scope, and benefits to deliver value.
- Participates in account business planning and collaborates with account leadership to communicate value propositions and identify opportunities.
- Maps appropriate partners to opportunities and transfers knowledge to external partners to deliver results.
- Proactively builds the pipeline by identifying opportunities within the account (enhancements, unmet needs, up-selling, cross-selling).
- Monitors the account pipeline and nurtures deals from opportunity to close.
- Participates in sales forecast meetings and provides feedback to accelerate the sales lifecycle.
- Documents ongoing work throughout the sales cycle using defined tools and shares best practices with peers and partners.
- Develops and nurtures professional relationships with customer technical teams and executives to understand the customer ecosystem and how HPE can deliver value.
- Shares knowledge with peers and helps develop junior team members.
Education and Experience
- First-level university technical degree or equivalent; advanced degree in technology preferred.
- 4–8 years of technical IT experience with focus on technical consulting and solution selling.
- Knowledge-based and experience-based relevant industry certifications strongly preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience in solution configurations, demos, and proofs-of-concept (POC) to meet customer requirements.
- Understanding of HPE solution offerings and portfolio, and how software, services, and hardware come together to address customer needs.
- Solid working knowledge of the as-a-service (aaS) model and related business value and outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication, active listening, and storytelling; ability to communicate in English and local languages as needed.
- Effective discussion and persuasion skills with respectful questioning of proposed solutions.
- Business and financial acumen—sales cycle, pipeline growth, reporting, and ability to influence; understanding customer roles and go-to-market strategies with partners.
- Understanding of KPIs for CxOs/LOBs; knowledge of TCO/ROI concepts and financial modeling.
- Consultative and value-selling skills, including whiteboarding, objection handling, and closing to help customers decide.
- CRM proficiency and knowledge of partner offerings and collaboration with them.
- Resource management skills to engage SMEs/specialists effectively.
- Hands-on experience with relevant products/solutions/tools/services; ability to design and deliver product demonstrations.
- Strong project and time management skills with analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of partner ecosystems and go-to-market strategies with partners for deals.
