Overview:

As a Data Scientist at Al-Qadsiah Club, you will be embedded within the Data, Technology, and Innovation team, playing a critical role in delivering advanced football analytics. You will work closely with analysts, coaches, scouts, and performance staff to deliver high-quality insights that inform tactical and strategic decision-making. You will also support data infrastructure, model development, and innovation to advance the club’s data strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Collection & Processing

  • Extract, transform, and load data from event, tracking, and performance sources
  • Ensure high data quality and integrity for accurate insights
  • Support performance analysis with data organization and trend identification

Data Management & Infrastructure

  • Oversee integration, storage, and processing of data from multiple sources
  • Assist in managing the internal data warehouse (GCP)
  • Build automated pipelines using Python and SQL
  • Collaborate with software engineers to enhance system performance

Dashboard Development

  • Maintain and expand the club’s analytics platform
  • Integrate diverse data sources for deeper analysis
  • Optimize platform features for various user groups
  • Deliver intuitive visuals to aid decision-making

Advanced Analytics & Innovation

  • Develop predictive models and statistical tools
  • Apply machine learning and deep learning methodologies
  • Explore emerging data sources and analysis techniques

Insight Translation

  • Translate complex data outputs for non-technical stakeholders
  • Communicate insights that support operations and decision-making
  • Ensure outputs align with strategic goals and are practical to implement

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics or a related field

Desirable:

  • Master’s or PhD in a relevant quantitative field
  • Equivalent practical experience in football or high-performance sports settings

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in football or high-performance sports data analysis
  • Advanced Python and SQL skills; proficient in Tableau or Power BI
  • Knowledge of football data sources (event, tracking, or performance)
  • Strong understanding of machine learning and deep learning techniques
  • Experience in application development for football analytics
  • Ability to interpret complex data sets and deliver actionable insights
  • High attention to detail in managing and processing data
  • Excellent communication skills for a mixed technical/non-technical audience
  • Open to cultural and professional adaptation within Saudi football
  • Fluent in English; Arabic and Spanish are desirable
  • Previous experience in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East is preferred
