Job description

Overview

Operates and maintains Precision Machine Shop equipment, performs fabrications and manufacturing of precision components under supervision of Senior Cyclotron Machinist.

Responsibilities

1. Makes sketches as necessary, assuring attention to details, consults with supervisor for complex jobs. Accepts job assignments from supervisor with understanding of procedures to be performed.
2. Understands specifications of part to be machined or fabricated, and performs tasks using samples and/or engineering drawings.
3. Operates and maintains standard and precision machines such as lathe, milling machines, drill presses, and tool grinders.
4. Uses measuring devices such as micrometres, performs conversions between units, and checks for conformance to specifications.
5. Performs routine operations of maintaining high vacuum pumps, preparing internal target plates and similar other jobs as per specifications and design.
6. Understands and adheres to the radiation protection regulations; ensures compliance with highest level of radiation safety according to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle.
7. Works frequently with radioactive equipment and parts, understands machine shop safety regulations and ensures that all operations are conducted in a safe manner.
8. Participates in Department/Unit specific and Hospital wide quality improvement plan.
9. Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
10. Participates in self and other's education, training and development, as applicable.

Education

Bachelor’s or Associate Degree/Diploma from a technical school or other related discipline is required.

Experience Required

Two (2) years of related experience with Bachelor’s or four (4) years with Associate Degree/Diploma is required.

Other Requirements (Certificates)

Relevant experience and evidence of machining skills and proficiency is preferred.
