Role Purpose

To establish and provide technical guidance and supervision for Data Protection and Privacy Section's activities, in order to deliver the department's mandate by managing all tasks and activities to ensure that SANS Data Protection and Privacy Strategy Programs are run to completion, within the set KPIs, agreed budgets, adopted policies and procedures, as well as applicable regulatory requirements. Moreover, the role is responsible for overseeing and monitoring the development of the annual budgeting and business planning.

Knowledge and Experience

• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in data protection, privacy compliance, or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of data protection and privacy regulations and standards.
• Experience with data governance frameworks and cybersecurity principles.

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems (or other relevant technical disciplines).
• Professional certifications in data protection or privacy (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, ISO 27001) are highly desirable.

Key Activities

Data Protection and Privacy

• Oversee the development and implementation of data protection and privacy strategy aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
• Review and validate Data Protection and Privacy projects feasibility studies and business cases.
• Oversee the update of data protection and privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Ensure that all Data Protection and Privacy projects charters, scope of work, and deliverables are accurately defined, aligned with business goals, and approved by relevant stakeholders.
• Oversee that personal data protection and privacy controls are in place within all SANS third-party contracts and shared with external vendors.
• Support the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, including data classification, retention, and access policies.
• Support the team for any project risks and oversee the development of risk mitigation activities in collaboration with the relevant internal stakeholders.
• Supervise the development and maintenance of Data Protection and Privacy projects schedules, ensuring that critical path activities are identified and closely monitored.
• Collaborate closely with project managers to ensure that project plans are realistic and achievable.
• Supervise the implementation of approved changes and update Data Protection and Privacy projects scope and schedule.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in Data Protection and Privacy solutions.
• Oversee the awareness program to promote a culture of privacy and raise awareness pursuant to the privacy policies and procedures approved by SANS.
• Oversee the incident response to data breaches, formulating corrective actions in alignment with national regulations.
• Oversee the regular audits and assessments of data processing activities to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.

• Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes, taking into account leading practices, changes in the business environment, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.

• Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign and delegate responsibilities, and monitor the workflow.
