Job Description
The Cost Estimation Engineer will be responsible for preparing, validating, and optimizing detailed cost estimates for high voltage electrical infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission lines, and associated systems. The role requires a deep understanding of engineering design, procurement practices, labor, and materials cost trends specific to the high voltage electrical sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive capital cost estimates (CAPEX) for EPC contracts related to substations (66kV and above), transmission lines, and grid interconnection works.
Analyze design documents, drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications to ensure accuracy in cost estimation.
Work closely with design, procurement, and construction teams to collect input data for estimate preparation.
Benchmark costs against historical data, vendor quotes, and international standards.
Identify cost drivers and risks in project proposals and recommend mitigation strategies.
Support the preparation of financial models and feasibility studies by providing accurate cost inputs.
Participate in value engineering exercises to optimize cost without compromising technical integrity.
Provide cost reports and updates for internal and client use.
Support tendering and contract negotiation phases with validated cost data.
Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in cost estimation for high voltage power transmission and distribution projects (preferably with international exposure).
Strong knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards, FIDIC and EPC contract structures.
Proficient in cost estimation software (e.g., Candy, CostX, Excel-based models).
Experience with renewable energy and battery storage integration is a plus.
Fluent in English
