Role:

The Cost Controller plays a key role in managing and analyzing the cost structure of the production and manufacturing operations. This role ensures accurate cost allocation, controls production expenses, and provides insightful financial analysis to support decision-making and improve operational efficiency. It is involved of collaboration with production, procurement, inventory, and finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control production costs across raw materials, labor, overhead, and logistics.
  • Maintain and update standard costing for all manufactured products.
  • Analyze and compare actual vs. standard costs and report variances to management.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly cost reports, including cost of goods manufactured (COGM) and cost of goods sold (COGS).
  • Work closely with the production and procurement teams to monitor waste, overuse, or inefficiencies in material and resource usage.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes for production costs.
  • Conduct cost analysis for new products, product changes, or process improvements.
  • Evaluate production performance and suggest improvements to reduce cost without compromising quality.
  • Ensure proper inventory valuation and participate in regular stock counts and reconciliations.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary cost-related documentation and analysis.
  • Assist in pricing decisions by providing detailed cost analysis to ensure profitability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience in cost control or financial analysis, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex data in a clear, concise manner to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Professional certification such as CMA or CPA is a plus.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and operational efficiency analysis.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and production workflows.
