Lead the site-based cost control function and serve as the primary point of contact for cost-related matters on the project site.
Develop and maintain the project's cost control systems, procedures, and tools in accordance with company standards.
Monitor and control project costs, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor expenditures.
Track committed costs, actual costs, accruals, and forecast costs to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Produce regular cost reports (weekly/monthly) and present variance analysis against the budget and forecast.
Work closely with project planners to integrate cost and schedule data and perform earned value analysis (EVA).
Provide cost input for changes, variations, and claims, ensuring alignment with contractual and commercial frameworks.
Lead the monthly cost review process and contribute to progress reviews with senior site and corporate management.
Support procurement and contracts teams with cost benchmarking, trend analysis, and estimating activities.
Identify risks, trends, and cost-saving opportunities, and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Ensure compliance with company policies, project procedures, and client reporting requirements.
Mentor and guide junior cost engineers or analysts (if applicable).
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Finance, or a related discipline.
Experience in cost control or project controls within construction and/or mining projects, in a lead role.
Proven experience in site-based roles on large-scale EPC or mining/construction projects.
Strong understanding of project cost control principles, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
Proficiency in cost control software and systems (e.g., Primavera, SAP, EcoSys, MS Excel, or equivalent).
Knowledge of earned value management (EVM), project accounting, and cost performance analysis.
Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
