ROLE OVERVIEW
The ESG Data Specialist will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining the integrity of our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data as we build a truly sustainable future. This position will be instrumental in developing robust data management processes, ensuring data quality, and supporting our sustainability reporting and strategic decision-making for this ambitious project.
ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
The ESG Data Specialist responsibilities will include, but not be limited to supporting management with the following:
Develop Data Catalogue and Data Management Processes
- Identify key ESG metrics relevant to NEOM's unique development and operational landscape, clearly defining data ownership and associated responsibilities across various entities within the project.
- For each identified metric, meticulously map data availability, sourcing systems (potentially including cutting-edge smart city technologies), data completeness, data quality parameters, and precise calculation methodologies.
- Develop and implement a standardized and efficient process for the collection, consolidation, curation, rigorous analysis, and thorough validation of diverse ESG data points generated across NEOM's diverse initiatives.
Establish Data Quality Standards and Controls
- Define and document clear guidelines and ambitious standards for maintaining the highest levels of ESG data quality and accuracy within the context of a smart and interconnected city.
- Identify and establish requirements for valid and auditable supporting evidence for all reported data points, considering the innovative data collection methods within NEOM.
- Develop and implement clear protocols outlining the frequency and methods for data and supporting evidence storage and capture, potentially leveraging advanced digital infrastructure.
- Design and implement a practical and scalable model to operationalize the efficient and accurate input of ESG data from various interconnected systems and stakeholders.
Collect and Consolidate Sustainability Data
- Implement the developed data input model to streamline the collection of ESG data from NEOM's diverse operations and initiatives.
- Consolidate refined ESG data from various sources, potentially including real-time data streams from smart city technologies, into a centralized and manageable system.
- Collect manual data and compelling qualitative success stories that highlight NEOM's commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Validate Sustainability Data
- Thoroughly verify consolidated quantitative ESG data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency, ensuring alignment with NEOM's ambitious sustainability goals.
- Critically review and validate consolidated qualitative data and success stories for authenticity, relevance, and impact within the context of NEOM's vision.
- Scrutinize the overall ESG data landscape to ensure comprehensive data completeness and internal consistency across all reporting areas, contributing to a holistic view of NEOM's sustainability performance.
Finalize Data Management and Governance RACI:
- Develop a comprehensive ESG data governance and management Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RACI) chart tailored to NEOM's organizational structure and collaborative environment.
- Establish and maintain a consistent data taxonomy to effectively classify and organize all ESG-related data generated within the NEOM ecosystem.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- 2+ years of experience in data management, data analysis, or sustainability reporting, preferably within large-scale or innovative projects.
- Proven ability to develop and implement data management processes and quality control measures, ideally within complex and evolving environments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail and a focus on data accuracy.
- Proficiency in data management tools and software (e.g., Excel, database management systems, ESG reporting platforms, data visualization tools).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders within a large and dynamic organization.
- Experience with data integration from multiple sources and familiarity with smart city technologies or IoT data is a significant plus.
- Familiarity with Saudi Arabian regulations and sustainability initiatives is advantageous.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Data Science, Urban Planning, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
