Job description

Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Control System Technician to join the Western Area Pipelines Department (WAPD). This department focuses on transporting oil, gas, and refined products throughout the west of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The primary role of the candidate will be to provide technical support for all field instrumentation and control systems at WAPD facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform maintenance on assigned equipment, replacing parts as required under supervision.
  2. Conduct troubleshooting, resolve problems, and maintain systems and software for various control systems, including:
  • SCADA Control System (Siemens CS7 & PCS7 Telecontrol)
  • PLC (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, ABB, Emerson, Yokogawa, GE)
  • DCS (Yokogawa, ABB, Honeywell, Siemens)
  • ESD (ICS Triplex, Triconex, Siemens S7-400H-FS, Prosafe-RS)
  • Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) (Bristol Babcock, Emerson, Yokogawa Stardom, ABB)
  • Fire Control System
  • Metering and Proving Control System and Skid
  • Vibration Monitoring System (GE-Bentley-Nevada 3500)
  • Radar Tank Gauging (RTG)
  • Gas Compressor Control systems; GE Mark Vie; Safety System: GE Mark VIES; Over Speed Protection System: Torquetronic 800; PROMEL Fire and Gas System
  1. Perform skilled maintenance and repair of field instrumentation and basic supervisory equipment, using standard test equipment and diagnostics.
  2. Review and maintain control system, ESD, fire & gas operating philosophies, and cause and effect charts.
  3. Participate in HAZOP studies and support management of change (MOC) processes.
  4. Review and contribute to conceptual design packages and engineering cost estimates.
  5. Participate in factory and site acceptance tests for instruments and control systems.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in control system or electrical engineering from a recognized university.
  • 8 to 10 years of control system experience, preferably in the oil or process industry.
  • Proven ability to handle project and maintenance assignments related to control systems.
  • Experience with PLC/DCS/SCADA, control systems, ESD, fire and gas detection, and related instrumentation.
  • Strong hardware interfacing, troubleshooting, and software scripting skills.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems efficiently.
  • Experience in root cause analysis and system availability improvement.
  • Vigilance in disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Compliance with Saudi Aramco standards and safety protocols.
