About the Hospital

Opened originally in 1983, this 1600-bed flagship National Guard Hospital has continued to expand and develop its services, offering high-quality care in all medical and surgical specialties. It includes a highly equipped Cardiac Centre, specialized transplant, and hepatobiliary services.

The Emergency Care Centre is considered the best Trauma Care Centre in Saudi Arabia and ranks 4th outside the United States, providing the PHTLS Pre-Hospital Trauma and Life Support programme.

The hospital also houses a specialized children’s hospital with 600 beds, which began operations with the opening of the Paediatric Emergency Department in April 2015.

Qualifications Required

Applicants must qualify as a consultant with this institution and meet licensing authorities' requirements, including:

  • At least 2 years of consultant experience in a Western hospital
  • 2 years post-specialist qualification experience from countries such as the UK (CCT), USA (American Board), Canada (Canadian Fellowship), Ireland (CSD/CSCST), Australia & New Zealand (Fellowship), France (DES/DESC/CIS/DIS/French Board), Germany (Facharzt with subspecialty board), or other European countries according to SCFHS equivalence tables.

  • Bonus: Half a month’s salary at the end of the contract
  • Contract duration: 1 or 2 years, renewable
