Woodston Personnel are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant in Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care (PCVICU) to join a prestigious healthcare facility in Saudi Arabia. The consultant will provide expert care to critically ill children with congenital or acquired heart conditions requiring intensive care, including pre- and post-operative cardiac surgical patients. The role requires clinical excellence, leadership in critical care management, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary cardiac team to deliver the highest standards of pediatric cardiac critical care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the clinical care of pediatric patients in the cardiovascular intensive care unit, including neonates, infants, and children post-cardiac surgery or catheter-based interventions.
- Provide advanced hemodynamic monitoring, ventilatory support, and multi-organ support in a high-acuity environment.
- Collaborate closely with pediatric cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, cardiologists, and ICU nurses to deliver coordinated and multidisciplinary care.
- Participate in pre-operative evaluations and post-operative rounds to ensure comprehensive care planning.
- Manage emergency situations including cardiac arrests, sepsis, and postoperative complications in critically ill children.
- Supervise and mentor pediatric residents, critical care fellows, and nursing staff within the PCVICU.
- Contribute to the development of ICU protocols, quality improvement programs, and clinical pathways.
- Engage in research, audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Participate in hospital committees and educational programs to support departmental goals and ongoing professional development.
Skills and Competencies
- High-level proficiency in pediatric intensive care procedures, including ECMO, CRRT, central line placement, and advanced airway management.
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
- Leadership and teaching ability in a high-complexity care environment.
- Commitment to ethical practice, patient safety, and continual clinical advancement.

Minimum Requirements
- Valid and current medical license or eligibility for licensure in Saudi Arabia.
- Postgraduate qualification and specialist training such as American Board (US), FRCS (Irish, UK, Canadian, Australian or New Zealand), Diplôme d’Études Spécialisées (DES) / CIS French Board, Facharzt (Germany or equivalent) with recognized Subspecialty Certification, or a Recognized Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 3-4 years post-board/fellowship experience in a dedicated Pediatric or Cardiovascular ICU setting.
- Excellent clinical and technical skills in his/her specialty.
- Knowledge of Arabic is preferred.
