About the Role:
The Commercial Manager will play a critical role in leading the commercial activities of the organization, ensuring efficient contract execution, proposal development, and customer relationship management. This role requires strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and the ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the review, negotiation, and finalization of Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) with customers to secure favorable commercial terms for the company.
- Coordinate with legal and relevant internal stakeholders to mitigate risk and ensure contractual compliance.
- Oversee the preparation of cost sheets and commercial offers in alignment with pricing strategy and margin expectations.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of proposals in response to RFQs and tender invitations.
- Maintain and enforce the department’s internal tollgate process, ensuring all commercial approvals and documentation stages are completed before submission or execution.
- Drive efficiency in the commercial process and improve stage gate compliance.
- Monitor customer orders through all execution phases, including production follow-up and delivery timelines.
- Act as a focal point for order status updates, resolving bottlenecks in coordination with operations and planning teams.
- Build cross-functional collaboration with sales, planning, finance, and engineering teams.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance commercial effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain reports and KPIs to track commercial performance and identify areas of improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional training or certification in contract management, commercial negotiation, or project management is an advantage.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in commercial management, sales operations, or contract administration, preferably within manufacturing, industrial, or energy sectors.
- Proven track record in reviewing and negotiating customer Terms & Conditions (T&Cs).
- Demonstrated experience in preparing cost sheets and commercial proposals.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams across sales, finance, planning, and operations.
- Strong understanding of pricing models, cost structures, and proposal processes.
- Knowledge of order lifecycle management from PO issuance through production and delivery.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with ERP systems is highly desirable.
