Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Control Engineer to join our metal fabrication workshop. The ideal candidate will specialize in machine control systems, including CNC programming, servo motor tuning, VFD configuration, and automation integration. This role involves setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing CNC machine controls to ensure peak performance, precision, and reliability in metal fabrication processes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. CNC Control System Setup & Optimization:

· Configure and calibrate CNC controllers

· Integrate and troubleshoot servo motors, drives, and VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).

· Develop and optimize PLC logic and CNC programs for milling, turning, and multi-axis machining.

· Ensure proper communication between CNC systems, HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and peripheral devices.

· Design and implement custom control solutions for CNC machines.

· Evaluate and upgrade legacy systems with modern CNC controls.

· Work with robotics and automation (if applicable) to enhance production efficiency.

3. Troubleshooting & Maintenance:

· Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software-related CNC control issues.

· Perform servo tuning, backlash compensation, and axis alignment for precision machining.

· Conduct preventive maintenance on control systems to minimize downtime.

4. New System Development & Integration:

· Research and test new CNC control technologies.

· Collaborate with R&D and production teams to implement advanced machining solutions.

· Provide technical support for new machine installations and retrofits.

5. Documentation & Training:

· Maintain detailed records of control parameters, wiring diagrams, and system modifications.

· Train CNC operators and maintenance staff on control system functionalities.

Desired Candidate Profile

· Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field (or equivalent experience).

o 2+ years in CNC control engineering, preferably in metal fabrication.

o Hands-on experience with CNC controllers.

o Strong knowledge of servo motors, VFDs, PLCs, and motion control systems.

o Proficiency in G-code, M-code, and ladder logic programming.

· Technical Skills:

o Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

o Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, Modbus, Profibus).

o Experience with CAM software and CNC simulation tools.

· Certification in CNC programming or industrial automation.
