Job Purpose

The role covers Pakistan & Middle East Asia – Pakistan , UAE, Saudi Arabia , Oman , GCC other countries in Middle East Asia.

The role purpose is to ensure an effective, consistent, high quality Occupational Health service is delivered to all GSK bio pharma businesses (eg Supply Chain, R&D, Commercial) in Pakistan & Middle East Asia while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements through GSK matrix or third-party providers. Support local implementation and promotion of enterprise-wide and country OH programmes, services and initiatives. Ensure optimal vendor management – OH service quality & capability, regulatory compliance, escalation of risks, compliance with Global OH processes including the EHS standards and ability to promote and signpost to all health and wellbeing programmes and initiatives. Focus on enhancing governance, quality and clinical consistency oversight across countries in the cluster

Education, Experience & Skills


  • Masters or Doctorate in Occupational/Public Health or equivalent
  • Strategic Business application of Occupational health content: 10+ years’ experience in integrating OH into business operations and managing key issues in collaboration with EHS partners, HR generalists and specialists (e.g. benefits), business continuity and others to foster healthy, resilient, high performing workforces. (Level 3 – Strength, Business Application of OH knowledge minimum).
  • Experience in leading cluster or country occupational health teams in an international or multinational environment. Preferably in pharmaceutical, chemical, or other related industries.
  • Ability to develop holistic risk assessments, effective management systems, and governance processes at site, country, and regional levels using population level data sets. (Level 3 – Strength, Risk Management minimum)


Key Responsibilities


  • Oversee the matrix of health professionals across Pakistan & Middle East Asia to ensure delivery of Global OH priorities.
  • Where required deliver licensed physician oversight, governance, management quality assurance and medical expertise to mitigate health risk of injury/illness for matrix and outsourced providers
  • Where required oversee contract and relationship with vendors including establishing expectations and SLA for OH service quality and capability, regulatory compliance, escalation of risks; ensuring training and compliance with GSK global OH processes including Standards for the relevant countries
  • Work with senior leaders for sponsorship and other functions to ensure effective occupational health services and HP programme delivery is appropriately coordinated with Corporate and global business strategies.
  • Responsible for development of local health and wellbeing plans, working with Regional Health Promotion Lead to develop and share insights, emerging trends (key OH risks, Public Health including pandemics) needs & OH priorities to ensure relevant plans and integrated delivery
  • Oversee support to CEBs in scope to develop and implement public health emergency plans to combat relevant public health issues
  • Deliver subject matter expertise to key business leaders on health and wellbeing risks and opportunities
  • Measure performance through KPIs and dashboards, escalate opportunities & threats to Regional Head of Occupational health for Asia, recommend and agree mitigation strategies with leaders, monitor implementation
  • Able to effectively mentor, coach, influence and further develop the health professionals within the matrix
