We are a leading EPC contracting company in Saudi Arabia, specializing in high voltage (HV) and extra-high voltage (EHV) substations, overhead transmission lines (OHTL), power plants, water treatment plants, water pipelines, and industrial plant projects. To ensure proper management of contractual obligations and resolution of claims, we are seeking a skilled Claims and Contract Engineer to join our team.
Position Overview:
The Claims and Contract Engineer will be responsible for reviewing, managing, and administering project contracts to ensure compliance with terms and conditions. This role also involves analyzing claims, negotiating resolutions, and mitigating risks associated with contractual disputes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contract management, claims analysis, and dispute resolution within the construction or EPC industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Administration:
- Review and interpret project contracts, ensuring compliance with all terms and conditions.
- Monitor contractual obligations, deliverables, and timelines throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage contract amendments, extensions, and variations, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
Claims Management:
- Identify potential claims arising from delays, disruptions, or changes in project scope.
- Prepare detailed claims documentation, including analysis, justifications, and supporting evidence.
- Negotiate with clients, subcontractors, or vendors to resolve claims amicably.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Identify and assess risks related to contract execution and claims.
- Develop strategies to mitigate risks and minimize potential disputes.
- Provide advice to project teams on managing contractual risks effectively.
- Act as the primary point of contact for resolving contractual disputes with stakeholders.
- Support arbitration, mediation, or legal proceedings by preparing documentation and technical inputs.
- Liaise with legal advisors or consultants when necessary to resolve complex disputes.
Cost and Variation Control:
- Review and evaluate change orders and variations to ensure alignment with contractual terms.
- Analyze the financial impact of claims and variations on project budgets.
- Provide recommendations for cost optimization and risk sharing.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all contracts, claims, and correspondence for audit and reference purposes.
- Prepare regular reports on claims status, risk exposure, and contract performance for management.
- Ensure all documentation complies with company policies and industry standards.
Collaboration and Training:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure alignment on contractual matters.
- Conduct training sessions for project teams on contract terms, claims handling, and risk management.
- Provide guidance on best practices for contract and claims management.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in Contract Management or Construction Law is an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in contract management and claims handling, preferably in the EPC or construction industry.
Experience in large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects is highly desirable.
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts, claims analysis, and dispute resolution procedures.
- Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients, legal advisors, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
Preferred Certifications:
- Certification in Contract Management (e.g., CCCM, CPCM) or Construction Law is preferred.
- Knowledge of local regulations and international standards relevant to construction contracts.
