As Chief Steward, you’ll lead the stewarding team in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen areas and ensure the proper handling of kitchen equipment and supplies. You’ll manage inventory, sanitation practices, and back-of-house operations — supporting culinary excellence and upholding IHG’s commitment to safety, efficiency, and True Hospitality.

Job Summary

Lead the stewarding team to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen areas, ensuring proper handling of equipment and supplies. Manage inventory, sanitation, and back-of-house operations to support culinary standards and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supervise stewarding activities including dishwashing, cleaning, and equipment care.
  2. Ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in accordance with HACCP and local regulations.
  3. Monitor and control inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and kitchen equipment.
  4. Oversee proper handling, maintenance, and storage of kitchen equipment.
  5. Train and lead the stewarding team, enforcing safety procedures and hotel standards.
  6. Collaborate with culinary and F&B teams to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  7. Manage waste and recycling processes effectively.
  8. Prepare reports on chemical usage, breakage, and stewarding schedules.
  9. Maintain stewarding equipment and areas in good condition.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in stewarding or kitchen operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
