The Center Operations Manager position is responsible for overseeing one or more USO Centers’ operations, programs, events, and activities at surrounding locations. This role manages subordinate staff and volunteers, evaluates and modifies existing programs, and plans and implements new initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Duties)

  • Ensure the Center is effective, inviting, safe, clean, and well-maintained, including equipment and adherence to sanitary and food-handling regulations.
  • Lead planning, quality, and delivery of programs on and off military installations within budget, and identify improvements to meet USO standards.
  • Oversee program needs, research new initiatives, and implement changes.
  • Coach and mentor staff and volunteers, develop relationships with vendors and contractors.
  • Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Preparedness Plans.
  • Manage financial activities, including budgets, sales, banking, inventory, and reporting.
  • Communicate operations, programs, and activities internally and externally, including media and social media content.
  • Build relationships with military, community leaders, partners, donors, and media to support USO goals.
  • Perform duties in the absence of leadership, operate a vehicle if required, and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years in operations, event management, or marketing, including supervisory experience.
  • Experience in non-profit, military, multicultural, or global settings preferred.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with social media and volunteer management software.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English; host country language preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential information, perform basic math, and manage budgets.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary credentials, including security clearance, driver’s license, and possibly a US passport.
