A leading technology company in the security sector is seeking a technician to install and maintain closed-circuit television systems. The role involves fieldwork and office duties, requiring expertise in both analog and IP systems. The ideal candidate will perform site surveys, manage installations, and troubleshoot any technical issues while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots closed‐circuit television systems and related security electronics. This role ensures optimal performance of analog and IP cameras, digital video recorders (DVRs), network video recorders (NVRs), access control, intrusion detection, and fiber-optic transmission equipment. Technicians work both in the field and from a home-based office, often traveling locally to customer sites to deliver preventive and remedial services in a cost-effective manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform site surveys to determine optimal camera types, lens selections, mounting locations, and field-of-view requirements.
- Install, wire, and configure analog and IP CCTV cameras, DVRs/NVRs, PoE switches, cabling (coaxial, CAT5/6, fiber), and related devices.
- Execute preventive maintenance routines: clean lenses, verify focus, calibrate time clocks, and update firmware.
- Troubleshoot faults in CCTV, access control (ACS), intrusion detection (IDS), gates, turnstiles, duress switches, card readers, and fiber-optic links.
- Maintain and calibrate test gear (multimeters, cable testers) as required by ISO9000 standards.
- Manage tools, vehicles, and safety equipment, ensuring they remain in safe, serviceable condition.
- Supervise and coordinate sub-contractors on large projects, ensuring workmanship adheres to statutory regulations and company standards.
- Communicate progress, issues, and add-on business opportunities to the Field Operations Manager in a timely manner.
- Conduct end-user training on system operation, software interfaces, and routine maintenance best practices.
- Document all service activities—work orders, service reports, system configuration changes—and liaise with the Customer Service Administration Office for dispatching and reporting.
- Adhere to safe working practices, keeping depots and sites orderly and hazard-free.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned to support company objectives.
