Job Description
Overall Job Purpose: Will oversee the planning and execution of cargo operations activities, ensuring smooth and efficient processes throughout the shipment lifecycle (Load/Discharge & vessel reconciliation). The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to coordinate load, discharge, vessel finalization, and adherence to deadlines and cut-offs, as well as maintenance of the same.
Responsibilities
- Follow up on hold by customs cases
- Update port community system for Vsl arrival and departure information
- Follow up with other stakeholders on the missing documentation impacting Vsl berthing/sailing
- Coordinate with partners and stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely load and discharge information exchange, timely system updates, etc.
- Monitor and approve late gate requests, ensuring compliance with established protocols
- Maintain accurate records of containers not in the terminal, missing documentation, and containers that did not materialize (shortfall) QSC (Area to supervise and finalize).
- Generate and share reports for longstanding containers inside the port, leaking cases, Reefer Plugging cost, or any other reports needed.
- Regularly review all costs related to the terminal.
- Manage break bulk (BB) information and acceptance
- Create and approve work orders for cargo operations activities, ensuring proper documentation and authorization.
- Check blockage of custom-related issues and request the release of cargo after clearance
- Handle Reefer malfunctioning containers and arrange repairs according to the case.
- Handle empty Auction containers with customs and terminals and arrange the retrieval of empty containers while following up on costs related.
- Handle long-standing containers after receiving customs approval (From CS) to proceed with the destruction process
- Cross-stuffing of cargos from reefer malfunction/leaking or damaged units
- Handle and coordinate with other stakeholders in the terminal, Master, and other departments for port clearance and delivery of Seals shipments, empty shipments, and any other ad-hoc requirements
- Coordinate and follow up with the Husbandry agent for any delays and ensure KPIs are met.
Qualifications
- University Degree or diploma in Marine Studies, experience as a Nautical Officer, or a similar qualification or experience in Liner Shipping or Logistics.
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Knowledgeable in MS Office applications
- A highly analytical mindset and the ability to work systematically under pressure
Preferred, but not mandatory:
- Previous knowledge/experience of Hapag-Lloyd systems/FIS
