Job description

Job Summary:

Cardiovascular technologists perform Electrocardiography (ECG), 2D Echo, Holter monitoring, exercise stress tests, and Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Properly place ECG electrodes on adult and pediatric patients and perform full 2D Echo studies, including views and measurements in adult patients.
  2. Perform ECGs by attaching electrodes and operating the ECG machine to trace electrical impulses from the heart.
  3. Conduct stress tests by monitoring the patient's heart during exercise on a treadmill, adjusting speed and incline as needed.
  4. Administer Holter monitoring tests with proper attachment of ECG monitors, and analyze the recorded data after 24 hours.
  5. Prepare, assess, and provide patient care for stress test patients before, during, and after procedures.
  6. Provide patients with exercise regimens when prescribed, obtain medical histories, record blood pressure, and explain procedures.
  7. Properly explain and transfer data from ambulatory blood pressure monitors to patients.
  8. Be knowledgeable about normal and abnormal heart rhythms and report urgent abnormalities to cardiologists or physicians.
  9. Screen artifacts in Holter monitoring, capture minimum and maximum heart rates, and record abnormal rhythms with advanced training.
  10. Maintain competence in ECG, Holter, Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring, and Exercise Stress Testing based on evidence-based practices guided by the American Heart Association.
  11. Participate in departmental tasks such as report census, typing, and scanning.
  12. Work flexible shifts across different areas within the Cardiology department as needed.
  13. Ensure a safe environment by maintaining equipment, adhering to infection control procedures, and safeguarding patient confidentiality.
  14. Communicate pertinent patient information to the clinical team via shift reports to ensure continuity of care.
Education / Professional Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Cardiovascular Technology.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  3. Licensed by the Saudi Council.
  4. Certified in ECG techniques.
