Job Summary:
Cardiovascular technologists perform Electrocardiography (ECG), 2D Echo, Holter monitoring, exercise stress tests, and Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Properly place ECG electrodes on adult and pediatric patients and perform full 2D Echo studies, including views and measurements in adult patients.
- Perform ECGs by attaching electrodes and operating the ECG machine to trace electrical impulses from the heart.
- Conduct stress tests by monitoring the patient's heart during exercise on a treadmill, adjusting speed and incline as needed.
- Administer Holter monitoring tests with proper attachment of ECG monitors, and analyze the recorded data after 24 hours.
- Prepare, assess, and provide patient care for stress test patients before, during, and after procedures.
- Provide patients with exercise regimens when prescribed, obtain medical histories, record blood pressure, and explain procedures.
- Properly explain and transfer data from ambulatory blood pressure monitors to patients.
- Be knowledgeable about normal and abnormal heart rhythms and report urgent abnormalities to cardiologists or physicians.
- Screen artifacts in Holter monitoring, capture minimum and maximum heart rates, and record abnormal rhythms with advanced training.
- Maintain competence in ECG, Holter, Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring, and Exercise Stress Testing based on evidence-based practices guided by the American Heart Association.
- Participate in departmental tasks such as report census, typing, and scanning.
- Work flexible shifts across different areas within the Cardiology department as needed.
- Ensure a safe environment by maintaining equipment, adhering to infection control procedures, and safeguarding patient confidentiality.
- Communicate pertinent patient information to the clinical team via shift reports to ensure continuity of care.
Education / Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cardiovascular Technology.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Licensed by the Saudi Council.
- Certified in ECG techniques.
