WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking an experienced engineer specializing in Carbon Capture Utilization & Sequestration (CCUS) Engineer to join the Downstream Process Engineering Division (DPED) under our Process and Control Systems Department (P&CSD).

The Downstream Process Engineering Division is responsible for providing technologies, process engineering expertise, support, and consultation in the area of refining and flare and relief systems.

As an engineer specializing in Carbon Capture Utilization & Sequestration, your primary role is to provide technical expertise as well as to support and consult in specific areas of refining. You will also coordinate and lead advanced techno-economic studies to plan, develop, and implement CCUS projects within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This role will work with multidisciplinary engineering teams and provide expert technical insights on CCUS-related matters.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering. Higher education is desired, but not required.
  • Minimum 20 years of experience within the CCS value chain, including CO2 storage projects and a strong understanding of geological and engineering considerations, as well as the various trapping mechanisms, either in saline formations and/or depleted oil and gas reservoirs.
  • Expert understanding of the various stages of CCS processes and related technologies, including capture processes and technologies (e.g. chemical absorption, physical separation), CO2 transport mechanisms and its economic considerations, CO2 storage mechanisms, and the various uses of CO2.
  • Familiarity with the various costs across the entire CCS value chain.
  • Strong understanding of the different policy/regulatory frameworks that have allowed the successful development of global CCS projects.
  • Good understanding of carbon-related policies such as carbon tax, cap-and-trade, carbon pricing, etc.
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following:

  • Work closely with operations personnel to understand their needs and produce designs and services to meet these expectations.
  • Review existing systems to identify improvement opportunities, potential problems, and remedies to existing problems, and conduct continuous improvement studies.
  • Provide capital and operations program leadership by originating and carrying out initiatives to improve performance, system optimization, and increase revenue to achieve best in class in business.
  • Lead the development of company standards and guidelines for CCS projects in Saudi Arabia.
  • Develop the conceptual design for scoping of new projects, review and approve the engineering calculations and design packages by engineering contractors.
  • Deliver presentations to international audiences of experts and publish technical papers.
  • Conduct simulation studies using Saudi Aramco licensed process simulation software packages such as HYSYS. Utilize process models for new and existing facilities and assess the ability of the model to deliver representative results.
  • Mentor junior engineers and deliver in-house training courses.
  • Work independently and create a positive work environment.
  • Act as a technical advisor and provide timely operational support to Saudi Aramco’s organizations.

THE STAGES OF THIS PROCESS ARE:

2. Interviews stage:

2.1 LHR Americas preliminary phone/video interview: A member of the Talent Acquisition team from LHR Americas will first schedule a call with you to discuss the details of the position, your interests, and qualifications. Furthermore, your English level will be evaluated at this stage; ONLY native or advanced speakers will approve this evaluation.

If this preliminary phone/video interview is successful, your resume will be submitted to our client.

If your preliminary phone/video interview is not successful, our Talent Acquisition consultant will inform you.

2.2 Client phone/video interview: This interview will happen only if your resume is approved by our client. We cannot guarantee the time our Client will take to approve your resume, but it should take less than a week.

If your resume is approved, a member of the Talent Acquisition Team from our client will schedule a call with you to evaluate your qualifications.

The client interview contains technical questions that help assess your familiarity with problem-solving in your given field and may include a behavioral evaluation. Be prepared to explain how you approach problems and produce solutions.

If your phone interview is successful, the hiring team will further evaluate your resume, and they will invite you to a video interview when hiring managers are available.

If your resume is not approved, LHR Americas will inform you.

2.3 Video interviews with hiring managers: which may also contain technical questions that help us assess your familiarity with problem-solving in your given field.

3. Conditional Offer: A successful interview may result in a conditional offer of employment. Conditions for employment include but are not limited to: medical examinations and permission to secure a visa to work and reside in-country.

4. Relocation process: After your offer is accepted and all conditions for employment are met, you will be assigned a relocation advisor from LHR Americas. This advisor is your go-to resource for the transition, providing helpful advice on everything from when to give notice to your current employer to visa services.
