A leading company in air navigation services is seeking a Business Planning Section Head. The successful candidate will contribute to organizational business plans through strategic data analysis and reporting. With at least 6 years of experience, you will lead initiatives that ensure compliance with policies and optimize operational performance.

Role Purpose

Key Accountability Areas

Key Activities

Data Collection and Reporting

  • Continuously gather and understand the necessary qualitative and quantitative data needed for decision making in strategic planning and business planning:
    • SANS financial income statement with justification and understanding of the changes from month to month
    • SANS annual budgeting exercise to understand the staff cost, operational cost, and project costs
    • SANS manpower plan per department and understanding of any changes to it
    • SANS major CAPEX projects and their impact to the business maturity
    • SANS major strategic initiatives and their impact to the business maturity
    • SANS non-regulated revenue generating streams
    • SANS traffic forecast and its impact to regulated revenue
    • SANS top customer and stakeholder insight
  • Develop an annual benchmarking report to:
    • Compare SANS to global and regional ANSPs in terms of financial & operational performance
    • Collect insights on global technology trends in ANSP sector
    • Collect general insights on aviation sector nationally and regionally
  • Develop strong relationships and conduct frequent meetings with GACA strategic unit, as well as the strategic units in adjacent countries ANSPs for the purpose of insight sharing and more accurate business planning

Business Planning

  • Develop SANS yearly business plan in collaboration with FIN budgeting team, HR manpower planning team, and SBD strategic planning team. As well as insight from benchmarking and research from data collection and reporting
  • Assist FIN in enhancing the budgeting process through implementation of operational excellence tools

Customer Insight

  • Develop systematic periodic reports, presentations and reviews and financial reporting requirements for senior management.
  • Systematically surveys customers to acquire feedback on and reaction to planned initiatives to fulfill its vision, mission, strategic directions, goals as well as the necessary quality improvement processes required to do so

Economic Regulation

  • Identify and understand the current compliance to Economic Regulation versus the ICAO principles and GACA regulations
  • Ensure SANS operations and financial systems to enable proper visibility against ER
  • Leverage forecast scenarios and cost scenarios to build unit rate adjustments for SANS and align those with GACA and customers
  • Ensuring changes from the new Economic Regulation are communicated properly to the different stakeholders (internally, IATA, and Airlines
  • Support in building relationship with GACA ER units for facilitation and cooperation.

People Management

  • Actively participate in on-the-job training, mentoring and coaching of subordinates
  • Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign and delegate responsibility and monitor the workflow
  • Promote a high-performance working environment embracing SANS s values

Policies, Processes and Procedures

  • Support in monitoring day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes taking into account leading practices, changes in business environment, cost reduction and productivity improvement
