A Business Data Analyst translates business requirements into data-driven insights, serving as the bridge between data experts and business stakeholders. They apply analytical skills, domain knowledge, and business acumen to interpret complex data sets and produce actionable recommendations that directly impact strategic and operational business decisions. At this level, analysts independently manage analytical projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and clearly communicate insights to management and stakeholders, influencing strategic initiatives and driving tangible business outcomes.

Technical and Analytical Capabilities:

  • Advanced Excel Skills: Pivot tables, advanced formulas, scenario modeling.
  • Proficiency with Data Querying: SQL for data retrieval and manipulation.
  • Data Visualization: Tableau, Power BI, Looker to develop interactive dashboards.
  • Analytical Programming: Familiarity with Python or R for exploratory analysis.
  • Understanding of Data Warehousing: Experience with relational databases and data structures for efficient data extraction and interpretation.
  • Statistical Methods: Capability to perform descriptive analytics, correlation, and regression analysis to interpret business performance.

Business-Oriented Capabilities:

  • Business Acumen: Deep understanding of organizational processes, strategies, and KPIs to interpret data in relevant business contexts.
