Job description

Responsibilities
The post holder is responsible to the Senior Boat Instructor (SBI) for the delivery of small powerboat training/Sea Sense Training (SST) (Swimming pool/MTF) to Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) Cadets/Trainees, supporting the delivery of a safe and professional working environment.

The post holder is responsible for:

  1. Delivering NTT's prescribed standards of instruction ashore and afloat IAW the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) training syllabus;
  2. Supporting the SBI to deliver NTT's Safety Charter with specific attention to Cadets/Trainees Health and Safety during Marina Operations;
  3. Supporting the provision of Safety cover for all water users;
  4. Completing all relevant paperwork relating to powerboat instruction and operations, e.g. lesson plans, risk assessments, maintenance logs, accident forms;
  5. Supporting the maintenance of all Marina and SST training equipment;
  6. Supporting the maintenance of all Marina and SST Water Safety Equipment;
  7. Carrying out duties of Duty Marina Instructor (DMI) as required;
  8. Working with the SBI to:
    1. Support the Marina and SST activities in line with Marina SOPs/EOPs;
    2. Maintain the MTF and SST swimming pool routine;
    3. Conduct safe jetty and davit (slinging) operations;
    4. Support RSNF daily training afloat and ashore;
    5. Deal with emergency situations afloat and ashore;
    6. Maintain VHF communications during boat operations;
    7. Support equipment maintenance schedules for the MTF and SST;
    8. Ensure the safety of all Cadets/Trainees and employees under his supervision;
    9. Instruct or assist in the delivery of BST Seamanship, NST BM and SST in the TINs and at the MTF.

In addition to the above, the post holder will be well motivated, adaptable, and flexible to operate in a complex technical environment, where the integration of a wide range of technical skills is necessary to ensure the prime objectives of NTT are met, with minimum supervision. The post holder will be expected to operate to a standard of absolute integrity and professionalism. The post holder will ensure the completion of any other reasonable request by their line manager, which aligns with Company business.

Job Requirements:
Essential
The post holder must have:

  1. A RYA powerboat instructor's qualification or equivalent qualification/experience;
  2. FAW Level 3 First aid (On Job Training available, if not held);
  3. Demonstrable evidence of having completed an Instructional Techniques course such as or similar to the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) Defence Train the Trainer (DTTT) course;
  4. Be a competent and confident swimmer;
  5. Seamanship Basic knowledge;
  6. For SN candidates, they must have an IELTS 5.0 Overall, for the delivery of classroom instruction to cadets and use of VHF communications when afloat.

Non-essential
Hold a RYA Sea Survival certificate or equivalent from other external training bodies (Military, STCW 95 etc.);
RYA SRC VHF Radio certificate.
