Job description
Overview

Join STERIS and help create a safer, healthier world by keeping critical hospital equipment up and running across Oregon. This remote, customer-facing role blends hands-on technical work with meaningful impact for caregivers and patients.

What you’ll do

You start your day from home, review your scheduled work on your company laptop, and head out in your company vehicle to hospital sites. On arrival, you’ll diagnose performance issues, complete preventive maintenance, and repair STERIS and other manufacturers’ medical equipment used every day in patient care. You’ll document your work in our digital tools to meet regulatory requirements, then brief hospital staff with clear recommendations, repair options, and pricing. When unusual problems arise, you’ll collaborate with Tech Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management to resolve them quickly. Between visits, you’ll spot opportunities that enhance the customer experience and coordinate with our Sales team. As service needs shift, you’ll support various facilities throughout your assigned territory.

Where you’ll work

This is a remote, field-based position, primarily inside hospitals. To serve customers in the assigned territory, you must reside in Oregon.

What you’ll handle
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain medical equipment, systems, and components.
  • Plan your day independently to balance preventive maintenance, service and warranty calls, installations, field upgrades, and other assignments.
  • Use advanced technology platforms to complete compliance tasks and capture detailed service documentation.
  • Provide customers with findings, options, and quotes; partner with Sales to elevate the overall customer experience and identify revenue opportunities.
  • Travel to multiple customer sites within the territory based on service agreements and needs.
What sets you up for success
  • High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years of work experience, including 2+ years in a mechanical/technical role. An associate degree, relevant technical certifications, competitive equipment training, or related military experience may count toward the technical requirement.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet all background and physical assessment elements required for vendor credentialing.
  • Experience engaging directly with customers and working within a team.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Windows, email, navigation, mobile apps, and data entry across multiple systems).
  • Flexibility for varied schedules, which may include overnights and early/late hours based on customer and business needs.
Rewards and benefits
  • Market-competitive pay
  • Extensive Paid Time Off plus 9 additional holidays
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage

  • Tools, equipment, and uniforms provided
  • Short- and long-term coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
