Job Purpose
Experts at this level are responsible for providing technical expertise pertaining to Infrastructure & Applications Design and Engineering to ensure business continuity. They also advise on operational work processes and mandates to minimize technical and operational risks.
Job Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Design:
- Provide inputs to planning and budgetary processes, considering future developmental requirements and costs, ensuring systems and processes meet objectives within budget constraints.
- Formulate design guidelines for the engineering team.
- Advise on infrastructure design approach, methodology, and tactical strategy.
- Review network security threats and ensure appropriate actions or escalations are taken based on threat evaluation.
- Advise on infrastructure dimensioning and capacity planning for new services.
- Develop optimized designs for projects, ensuring compliance with safety codes through comprehensive review of documents.
- Monitor system and equipment performance, recommending corrective actions for variances.
- Set quality standards balancing cost and service levels to achieve competitive advantages.
Applications Design:- Advise on architecture components for IT applications, ensuring compliance with the Enterprise Architect framework.
- Coordinate with Enterprise Architecture to align CRs with the technology strategy and roadmap.
- Prioritize CRs based on business criteria.
- Evaluate gaps between current and future states, defining transition strategies.
- Communicate solution models, performance reports, and optimization needs to stakeholders.
- Assess technical blueprints, considering capabilities and financial constraints.
- Support testing programs addressing database impacts, software scenarios, and usability.
- Verify service and solution compatibility across platforms.
Additional Responsibilities:- Recommend changes to high-level solutions to meet business needs.
- Assist in designing and implementing services like OS, databases, servers, virtualization, and storage.
- Define specifications for database, server, and OS technologies.
- Evaluate and improve existing infrastructure designs.
- Drive database tuning and optimization.
- Support legacy storage migration and develop backup strategies.
- Analyze capacity and forecast needs for storage, servers, and network infrastructure.
- Develop cloud computing strategies aligned with business needs, evaluating technologies and vendors for private cloud deployment.
- Integrate cloud infrastructure into existing operations.
- Design testing tools and environments for critical systems.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
Asset Management:- Advise on asset utilization, improving efficiency, and mitigating risks.
Years of Experience: 6-8 Years
Experience in: Circuit/system/infrastructure/applications design within the technology/telecommunication industry
Job Band: SME
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering or Computer Science; Master's Degree preferred.
Certifications: Relevant certifications are desirable.
