About the Role: The Automation & Surveillance Engineer is responsible for carrying out core technical activities related to the design, testing, validation, and ongoing support of Automation and Surveillance systems within NERA, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices within set KPl's, agreed budgets and adopted policies and procedures.
Main Responsibilities:
Pre-sale
- Technical Proposals: Oversee the development of technical proposals for Automation and Surveillance systems in response to RFPs from clients. Ensure these proposals meet regulatory and operational standards, including system design concepts, performance specifications, and compliance with aviation industry standards.
Project Management & Coordination
- System Design and Implementation: Contribute to the design and implementation of Automation and Surveillance systems, working closely with internal teams to ensure systems are engineered to meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- System Testing and Validation: Lead the testing and validation processes for Automation and Surveillance systems, ensuring adherence to design requirements and regulatory standards. Provide technical assistance during the transition to operational use, including shadow mode testing and activities for full entry into operation.
- Regulatory Compliance: Continuously monitor and ensure that all Automation and Surveillance systems comply with relevant ICAO and other aviation industry regulations. Provide ongoing technical assessments and adjustments to maintain compliance.
- Quality Assurance and System Commissioning: Assist in the quality assurance process, ensuring that systems meet all specified technical and operational requirements. Participate in the commissioning of new systems, providing oversight to ensure successful implementation.
- Project Planning: Creation of detailed project schedules, identifying key milestones, and assigning tasks to team members, ensuring that all timelines are met.
- Development Management: Implementation, and continuous improvement of Automation and Surveillance system’s design to meet operational, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Design Review and Quality Assurance: Lead the system design reviews (SDR, PDR, CDR), ensuring that designs meet technical and operational requirements with oversight of quality assurance tests and systems commissioning, ensuring all deliverables meet client expectations and industry standards.
- System Integration: Lead the integration of Automation and Surveillance systems with existing and future systems, collaborating with other departments and external entities to ensure seamless technical interfacing and system compatibility.
- Compliance with Industry Standards: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICAO and other relevant regulations, and ensure that all engineering activities comply with these standards, particularly in safety-critical aspects of air traffic management.
- Engineering Assessments: Support the assessment of air traffic service (ATS) procedure changes and airspace structure adjustments on existing and future Automation and Surveillance systems.
Stakeholder Management
- Internal Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate the interactions with internal stakeholders, including technical, financial, and legal teams, to obtain necessary information and approvals for bid submissions.
- Other Engineering Departments: Coordinate with other engineering departments to facilitate meeting the client expectation within the project specification and standards.
- Vendor and Contractor Coordination: Collaborate with vendors and contractors to develop RFPs, participate in proposal evaluations, and oversee the technical aspects of contract execution. Ensure all external activities align with project specifications and quality standards.
Performance and Reporting
- Reporting: Reporting project status, technical challenges, and proposed solutions to Automation and Surveillance Manager.
Consultation
- Technical Support and Consultation: Offer expert technical support during the execution phase of projects, collaborating with the installation and planning teams to ensure seamless project delivery. Act as a consultant to clients, ensuring that NERA’s solutions align with the client’s operational goals and industry standards.
Policies, Processes and Procedures
- Compliance: Conduct day-to-day activities while ensuring compliance to policies and procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes, taking into account leading practices, changes in business environment, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.
Qualifications:
- No prior experience is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent is required.
- Desired to have: Relevant certifications in bidding, project management, or technical disciplines are advantageous.
