Job Purpose / Objective
Provide complete audiology evaluation for a clinic population ranging from neonates to geriatrics, in direct support of the ENT Service which is currently staffed with physicians.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Perform, monitor and evaluate audiologic testing on all patients referred, including pure tone and speech testing, site of lesion determination, impedance audiometry, and brain stem evoked response audiometry.
- Conduct basic audiologic examinations and hearing aid evaluations, determine appropriate amplification, and provide suitable counseling.
- Perform electronystagmography.
- Participate in training paraprofessional personnel to enhance the quality and availability of audiologic testing within the medical community.
- Maintain and update clinical data files on audiologic patients seen and evaluated in the department, and prepare clinical and statistical reports for referral and administration purposes.
- Make appropriate referrals to departmental physicians when indicated.
- Monitor performance levels and provide quarterly assessments of personnel within the audiologic section to the Senior Otolaryngologist.
- Maintain and advance the level and range of audiologic assessments through continued medical education, including attendance at a minimum of one clinically applicable course or meeting (approved by Senior Physician) annually.
- Evaluate, update, and maintain all equipment within the audiologic service.
- Provide training to paraprofessional staff to facilitate expanded audiologic capacity, as well as supervise the current technician.
- Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
- Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect, and dignity.
- Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of knowledge, skills, and abilities, commensurate with the assignment.
Education/ Professional Qualification
Bachelor of Science Degree in Audiology, Biology, Communicative Disorders, or a related subject.
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in diagnostic audiology.
