Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Assists with managing aspects of the pool and beach areas, including overall maintenance, daily upkeep, cleanliness, and the operation of cabana units. Provides and models service behavior to guests and employees. Strives to improve guest and employee satisfaction while maximizing the financial performance in areas of responsibility. Works with direct reports to implement departmental strategies.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED; 1 year experience in recreation/health club operations or related professional area.
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Health Education, Physical Education, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; no work experience required.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Assisting with Recreation Operations

  1. Supervises and manages employees, supporting day-to-day operations. Understands employee roles sufficiently to perform duties in their absence.
  2. Monitors quality, standards, and customer expectations daily.
  3. Demonstrates knowledge of relevant issues, products, systems, and processes.
  4. Schedules events, programs, activities, and staff work.
  5. Provides personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care as needed.
  6. Develops goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and complete work.
  7. Supports management of outside vendors, including water sports and scuba.
  8. Assists with managing group activities such as sand painting, bonfires, and team-building events.
  9. Orders and manages supplies, ensuring staff have necessary equipment and uniforms.
  10. Helps manage children's programs, including coordinating activities and purchasing equipment.
  11. Assists with pool and beach area maintenance, daily upkeep, cleanliness, and operation of cabana units.

Providing and Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service

  1. Serves as a role model for appropriate behaviors.
  2. Delivers service exceeding expectations to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
  3. Enhances service through communication, understanding guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and coaching.

Conducting Human Resources Activities

  1. Identifies development needs and coaches or mentors staff to improve skills.
  2. Participates in performance appraisal processes, providing feedback.
  3. Coordinates training activities for department employees.
  4. Builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation within the team.
  5. Communicates expectations and performance objectives; encourages open dialogue about questions or concerns.
