Job description

Areas of responsibility include Restaurants / Bars and Room Service, if applicable. Assists in the daily supervision of restaurant operations and assists with menu planning, maintains sanitation standards, and supports servers and hosts during peak meal periods. Strives to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction by identifying training needs and implementing development plans.

Candidate Profile

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area.
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 2 years experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area.

Core Work Activities

Assisting in Management of Restaurant Team

  • Handles employee questions and concerns.
  • Monitors employee performance and provides feedback.
  • Assists in supervising daily shift operations and manages restaurant in the absence of the Restaurant Manager.
  • Participates in departmental meetings to communicate goals.
  • Ensures staff have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
  • Communicates food quality and service issues to the Chef and Restaurant Manager.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, standards, procedures, and local alcohol laws.
  • Works towards achieving or exceeding budgeted goals.
  • Performs all duties of restaurant staff as needed, including opening and closing shifts.

Providing Exceptional Customer Service

  • Engages with guests for feedback on quality and service.
  • Supervises staffing to meet service, operational, and financial goals.
  • Encourages staff to deliver excellent service and handles guest complaints.
  • Sets a positive example in guest relations and reviews guest satisfaction data.
  • Greets and interacts with guests regularly.

Conducting Human Resource Activities

  • Supervises ongoing training initiatives and uses all available training tools.
  • Communicates performance expectations and provides coaching and counseling.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provides information to colleagues and supervisors via various communication channels.
  • Analyzes information to evaluate and solve problems.
  • Supports servers and hosts during busy periods.
  • Recognizes quality products and presentations.
