Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Assistant Project Manager (Roads) to join our team! In this role, you will assist in providing direction and management for small to medium-sized projects, with a specific focus on roads infrastructure. You will support the Project Manager in ensuring on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations. This role involves assisting with scope development, scope management, and commercial performance of roads infrastructure projects to meet project goals and objectives. You will gain valuable experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of roads infrastructure while contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality results for our clients. Typically, you will assist in managing projects up to $50 million in total installed cost.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Assists the Project Manager in planning, directing, supervising, and controlling the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of assigned roads infrastructure projects.

  • Supports the development of project schedules, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with roads infrastructure standards and client expectations.

  • Assists in overseeing the design, construction, and maintenance phases of roads infrastructure projects, including pavement design, drainage systems, and traffic management.

  • Helps forecast monthly revenue, labor costs, ODCs, and gross profit for the term of the project.

  • Supports the preparation and management of project budgets, ensuring profitability and adherence to financial goals.

  • Assists with project invoicing and billing, including tracking accounts receivable and accounts payable.

  • Helps establish and maintain the Project Management Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other required documents, with a focus on roads infrastructure compliance.

  • Monitors project deliverables to ensure adherence to established criteria and quality standards.

  • Assists in assigning responsibilities for executing project plans to team members, leveraging their qualifications and strengths.

  • Supports the Project Manager in negotiating changes to the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors, particularly for roads infrastructure components.

  • Maintains regular communication with clients, subconsultants, and subcontractors to ensure alignment and progress on roads infrastructure projects.

  • Assists in identifying and pursuing additional work opportunities with clients, particularly within the transportation and infrastructure sectors.

  • Contributes to the development of career plans for project staff and identifies training needs to support professional growth.

  • Participates in staffing plans for roads infrastructure projects and pursuits.

  • Supports employee performance management, including recognition and feedback, as delegated by the Project Manager.

  • Attends industry conferences and networking events to represent Parsons and build relationships in the roads infrastructure sector.

  • Assists in preparing abstracts and presentations for key conferences, particularly on roads infrastructure topics.

  • Collaborates with the Project Manager and other team members to address project office space requirements and resource needs.

  • Helps monitor project progress, including cost, schedule, and scope, and provides regular updates to the Project Manager and senior leadership.

  • Assists in maintaining current and timely change orders and other project documentation.

  • Promotes technical and commercial excellence on the project through the application of Quality Assurance processes.

  • Participates in proposal development, client meetings, and presentations for roads infrastructure project pursuits.

  • Identifies business development opportunities and supports marketing efforts for roads infrastructure projects.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical/business field, with a focus on transportation or infrastructure.

  • 10+ years of related work experience, including experience in roads infrastructure projects.

  • 3+ years in a leadership role at a field site

  • Licenses and Certifications: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) registration is preferred.
