Assistant Manager - Sustainability Accreditation

Job Purpose

The Sustainability Accreditation Assistant Manager will report to the (Senior) Manager of Accreditations division. S/he will have in-depth experience in sustainable design and construction related to "green buildings certification", and fully familiar with USBC LEED and IWBI WELL system. Knowledge of KSA Mostadam and other globally recognized rating systems would be considered a plus. Preferably coming from a consultancy background with previous design team experience and have completed at least 5 LEED projects. Previous Energy and/or Daylight modeling experience and/or Life Cycle Assessment studies is a plus. Must be able to independently perform design and construction sustainability compliance checks against selected LEED/WELL/Mostadam criteria. Agility and adaptability. Good communication skills, time management and ability to multi-task.

Job Responsibilities

The Sustainability Accreditation Assistant Manager will support the (Senior) Manager with managing RSG’s external Sustainability Consultants, as well as RSG internal Design & Construction Teams in managing the delivery of sustainability accreditation targets. The range of projects will comprise a wide spectrum of building typologies including hospitality, residential, healthcare, educational, and other types of assets. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to detailed technical multidisciplinary projects designs reviews for targeted LEED/WELL/Mostadam compliance and provide input to relevant review findings reports at each project approval stage gateway, as tasked by (Senior) Manager.
  • Ensure completeness of documentary LEED/WELL/Mostadam compliance body of evidence, LEED letter templates, status reports, and planned timelines of all ongoing projects, flag any issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate and coordinate LEED/WELL/Mostadam compliance goals and targets to and amongst concerned RSG internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare LEED/WELL/Mostadam submission packages in-house, including calculations, drawings, reports etc. as and when required.
  • Research on new sustainable technologies and/or products.
  • Support Manager with the following activities, as necessary:

Management of projects construction process for LEED/WELL/Mostadam. Regular construction LEED/WELL/Mostadam progress review meetings and site audits with RSG external consultants and RSG internal construction team.

Ongoing projects daily (Aconex web platform based) technical review and approval of construction stage contractors proposals, mock-ups and material samples approval submittals etc.

  • Support Senior Manager with the following activities as and when required:

Strategies development, briefing presentations, reports and guidelines writing, providing sustainability requirements input to projects design and construction tender documents.

Procurement of RSG external consultants’ and testing agencies services – provide sustainability scope input to framework agreement documents and call off orders, and, complete technical evaluation of consultants returns.

Monthly and ad-hoc internal (and external) reporting on projects certification progress and future plans.

Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports

  • Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely functional MIS statements and reports to meet corporate and functional requirements, policies, and standards.

Safety, Quality & Environment

  • Apply safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of department’s systems, processes and practices considering ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or construction management.
  • LEED Accredited Professional - v4
  • WELL and Mostadam Accredited professional (preferred but not a must)
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in Design / Construction Stages of Projects which includes minimum 2 years of Consultancy experience in LEED Certified Projects.
  • Working knowledge of green building design and construction practices, strategies and technologies.
  • Working knowledge of general building systems and construction methodologies.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment servicing a wide range of project teams.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Riyadh based role; Help RSG secure a strong portfolio of LEED/WELL/(Mostadam) certificated assets working as a member of Sustainability Performance and Accreditations team within a wider Environment and Sustainability department.
