Raffles & Fairmont Red Sea, positioned in the Kingdom's groundbreaking Red Sea Project, will provide visitors access to a nature-focused resort. With 361 rooms, eleven distinct dining concepts, including overwater restaurants with views of the Red Sea and mangroves, and a spa, the resort will be situated next to an 18-hole championship golf course, reflecting Fairmont's association as a world-class golf destination. It will set new standards in sustainable development, positioned on 200 km of untouched coastline, an archipelago of more than 90 unspoiled islands, dormant volcanoes, rich marine habitats, and ancient archaeological sites.

Job Description

As the Assistant Director of Engineering, you will assist the Cluster Director of Engineering in transitioning the Resort from the construction and opening phase to fully operational status. You will provide leadership and direction across the engineering team while ensuring seamless compliance with Fairmont standards and brand expectations.

What You'll Do

  1. Oversee the handover process from construction to daily hotel operations, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
  2. Develop and implement the Preventative Maintenance Program for guest rooms, public areas, and safety systems while working closely with Operational Divisions.
  3. Provide technical information for repair, maintenance, operation, modification, and replacement activities to ensure all jobs are performed correctly.
  4. Oversee landscaping of the hotel and pool maintenance.
  5. Participate in preparing CAPEX expenditures for the hotel, annual budget preparation, and monthly forecasting with commentary.
  6. Recruit, schedule, process payroll, conduct performance reviews, and oversee training, development, and engagement strategies for the engineering team.
  7. Coordinate and manage outside contractors, including sourcing suppliers, preparing purchase orders, and negotiating with suppliers.
  8. Assist in monitoring energy and water management programs.
  9. Monitor, update, and implement fire safety, building evacuation, and disaster recovery plans.
  10. Coordinate and complete all engineering and risk management audits.
  11. Manage the hotel emergency response team in coordination with security and hotel management.
  12. Participate in the hotel's energy management, occupational health & safety, and environmental programs.
  13. Ensure compliance with all city and state regulations and ordinances.
  14. Perform inspections to ensure adherence to government and city regulations, ensuring guest and employee safety.
  15. Balance operational, administrative, and colleague needs.
  16. Maintain a clean and safe working environment, emphasizing colleague and guest health and safety.
  17. Assist in overall management responsibilities as needed.
  18. Follow department policies, procedures, and service standards.
Qualifications

  1. Previous pre-opening experience within the luxury industry is required.
  2. Leadership experience in Engineering/Maintenance, preferably in a pre-opening and operational luxury hotel setting.
  3. Proven supervision of various building maintenance and construction trades, including work scheduling, project management, and personnel management.
  4. Technical knowledge of electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and all engineering areas.
  5. Knowledge of local municipal codes, fire department requirements, and building testing.
  6. Engineering degree/diploma and/or valid trade qualifications preferred.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications.
  8. Service-focused personality with a passion for hospitality.
  9. Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and vendors.
  10. Strong communication and networking skills.
  11. Results-oriented, adaptable, and capable of working under pressure.
  12. Leadership qualities, team-building skills, and a high-performance mindset.
