Qualifications

Job description

Our guests’ safety and comfort always come first. Which is why we’re seeking out a master multi-tasker with the repair skills needed to keep our hotels looking and feeling their very best. Our new Assistant Director of Engineering will lead and coach a small but talented engineering team to stay one step ahead of our everyday maintenance needs.

A little taste of your day-to-day:

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

People
  1. Directing daily engineering needs to ensure the right team is always on the right task
  2. Creating a safe, secure and comfortable environment for our guests to enjoy
  3. Maintaining and ordering parts and supplies whilst minimising waste
  4. Being flexible to react to ad-hoc duties where we have to unexpectedly pull together to get a task completed
  5. Building strong relationships with outside contacts including guests, regulatory agencies, others as needed
Guest Experience
  1. Help guests' needs to ensure their satisfaction
  2. Use a maintenance programme to ensure the hotel is maintained and in service for our guests
Responsible Business
  1. Oversee the physical operations of the hotel, including maintenance and repair and order parts and supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimising waste and maintaining “green” initiatives
  2. May be responsible for hotel security to minimise risk of theft, crime and other hazards
  3. Ad-hoc duties – unexpected moments when we have to pull together to get a task done
Accountabilities

This is the top Maintenance/Engineering job in a large, luxury, resort, or major flagship hotel with multiple sites and facilities, a number of major outlets, high-volume catering and convention facilities, and a large number of VIP and key guests. Supervises a staff of maintenance/engineering tradespersons and contractors. May oversee subordinate managers and supervisors.

What We need from you:
  1. Some college or advanced vocational training
  2. Four years’ experience in general building maintenance and/or construction or equivalent combination of education and experience
  3. Specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields
  4. Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificate, licensed plumber and/or journeyman status for electrician and carpenter may be required
  5. Hotel experience preferred
